In the dash for cash Dorset Police have changed the criteria together with raising the speed threshold for attendance. I doubt they have done this alone or without ACPO direction.

In Dorset it is:
"Named drivers are only permitted to attend one Driver Awareness course within a twelve month period. If a driver subsequently commits a further offence in a six month period after attending the course, then that offence will be dealt with via the fixed penalty process (fine and penalty points)."

You can't do more than one in a three year period.
I know of someone who has done more than one in three years. They travel a lot and they were caught in different areas, so this sort of suggests that the SCP's do not talk to each other.

Maybe the rules vary around the country, for Staffordshire the letter says 'To be eligible for this offer you must no have your attendance on another National Speed Awareness course pending or have attended another National Speed Awareness course in the past 3 years.'

So an expanse of road with four lanes, two in one direction and two in the other and no barriers is a single carriageway.
Or even six. Very easy to get caught out by this one.

Aston Expressway.
Contraflow at busy times. Effectively a 7 lane road. At morning peak times 4 lanes inbound (using red centre lane). 1 divider lane and 2 lanes outbound. Then reversed at the other end of the day.

All controlled by overhead gantries

50mph is considered "safe" for this setup !!

Ta for the info, very strange. Just Googled it to see why motorbikes are banned from the red lane, and it's because the drain covers might come loose and cause an accident! WTF!
