How long for insurance to settle?

Will keep this brief...

Car stolen from drive on Monday with key taken from house.

Need car as wife takes 2nd car to work, quite a way from home.

Insurance won't provide courtesy car as it was stolen not crashed (read the small print).

How long till they write car off if it doesn't turn up?

In my bitter and painful experience (twice), two to three months. The settlement figure they give you is likley to be st. Last month I told them to go away and think again and they came back £10k higher. £10k!
