He had to be sacked given people have received custodial sentences for possessing extreme pornography. He was another police officer that didn't know the law or thought it didn't apply to them.

It's a crap bit of legislation, but yes, once he was convicted of the offence there was no choice but to get rid.

Does anyone have a the full list of Plebgate casualties, if that is the right expression?

So far I have:
Susan Johnson - gross misconduct
Gillian Weatherley - breach of standards
Keith Wallace - gross misconduct
James Glanville - misconduct, not clear if Gross or not
James Addison - discreditable conduct

I am sure that you witty PH-ers will add truth, respect and other clever witticisms. Feel free. But I would be interested to know the extent of the fall out for the people involved.

Given the 'There would be less wars if women ran the world' and 'The global economic meltdown wouldn't have happened if more women were in banking' it's not helpful that women got involved, but then again the men involved acted like fishwives instead of doing the job they were paid to do.

Rather oddly for this day and age, the job they are asked to do, is facilitate access to people without photopasses that they "recognise".

Needs micro-management and a detailed book of words. Perhaps even a flow chart, and possibly a little sub-routine within the flow chart dealing with opening gates (who for, which gate etc).

Can't have enough flow charts.

Non sequitur.
Tax avoidance is legal.
There are no ethics involved in the tax code, just thousand of pages in Tolleys.

Fitting up a cabinet minister on the other hand.....

I know a few fans of Theresa May have contributed to this thread, so this seems as good as place as any.

John Vine, QPM is leaving the job earlier than expected:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/immi...

It seems three of his reports that may not be politically helpful to the Home Secretary, or 'That woman' as she may have once been referred to, are stuck on her desk.

The Rotherham Child Abuse over 16 years that led to 1400 victims was covered by three reports, reportedly the first was disbelieved by the police and the second two and third reports were ignored.

My point? The Great and the Good hid three reports about the sexual predation of minors in Rotherham over a sustained period. Theresa May could be seen to be hiding three inconvenient or unhelpful reports from John Vine, QPM who could well be a decent chap that isn't afraid of the truth.

Additionally her Modern Slavery Bill looks a bit suspect given the revelations of what was going on in Rotherham. So we don't want Johnny Foreigner people trafficking, including minors for consumption in the sex trade, even though they were doing it in Rotherham for over a decade with the full knowledge of the police and Council.

Another link, to reduce the tangent quotient slightly, the Police and the Council in Rotherham didn't care about the welfare of minors being traded as chattels for whatever purpose, John Vine QPM reportedly may have concerns about the welfare of asylum seekers and illegal immigrants that are detained.

The Daily Mail front page today I am told is 'Police Cowards'. I'd stake a fair amount that John Vine, QPM isn't a police coward.

The Police Federation made as much fuss about what was going on Rotherham as they did the 'he said, she said' handbags at the gates of Downing Street did they?

Thanks BiB! See what happens when you play games, instead of doing the job you're paid to do, and pledged to do when you took the Constable's Oath.:

But we still don't know what Mitchell said. But we now know how the police interfere with the Free Press that we seem to think is so important to those abroad.

It was a risk to take on Murdoch. One wonders if the Mosley case had any influence. This one is different.

From what I can understand, this is going to cost Murdoch a fair bit and, if this is anything to go by, Mitchel a fair bit more in the way of career.

He's come out of it better than the other side so far.

In light of previous evidence against him having been fabricated, one has to wonder about the veracity of the current allegations.

If so, then I suggest the Sun is taking quite a risk using the documents as a plank to prop up their defence to a libel action.
I doubt their counsel would run with them if they hadn't been subjected to intense scrutiny and verification.
