When she passed her driving test do you think she imagined she'd ever be back-pedalling so hard again?

Wasn't there, so could say what actually happened.

What I can say is that many cyclists do time trials etc round where I live. Head down, pedling like mad, they become so focused they start weaving all over the freakin road... Frequently ride two abreast on a fast A road too, and they wonder why they get gestured and horned by motorists.

There may or may not be more to this story, but her first response it to apologise for the tweet? Not to apologise to the cyclist?

TOnup, I believe they are perfectly within their right to ride two abreast. There is also a reccommendation for the distance they should be from the curb which errs towards not too close so that you are visible, have room for manoeuvre and miss all the drains.

I wasn't saying the cyclist was riding well.

Saw this on the local BBC last night, appearing with her legal representative. She seemed to go a lot on the "poor me, look how my life has been ruined" thing.

Didn't hear much about her responsibility as a road user.

Silly mare.

They should have asked her what she would have done if she had hit a child.
Of course she wouldn't say "yeah I hit a child, they were fine I drove on".
There should be no distinction made, we're all road users. It's the fact that she thinks she has right of way over another road user because he's on a bike which thermally energises my waste fluids.

Mr Hockley, a member of Iceni Velo cycling club, said he was nearing the end of the Boudicca Sportive 100-mile ride when a car came towards him at speed on the wrong side of a narrow country lane.

Is it possible to be on the 'wrong side of a narrow country lane.'?

Round my neck of the woods there are two distinct types of cyclist.
The recreational cyclist who is out for a ride, sometimes in a small group. Generally polite and friendly road users.

Secondly.
The racers. Who are involved in some sort of time trial.
Who ride like nutters , who ignore junction priorities.
Who seem to have all their attention focussed on speed and none on road awareness or other traffic.

When I hear of the first type being hit I generally assume the driver was being a cock.
When I hear of a racer being hit I don't make that assumption.

Surely if the cyuclist was thrown off his bike and into a hedge, he must have some proof on his body (bruises, broken arm, whatever) of that fall? The fact that he is refusing to comment gives her the benefit of the doubt IMO.

I'm not sure how you can logically infer support for one side over the other simply because one of them is being sensible and avoiding a public slanging match.

I'd be more inclined to ask why the woman would lie on Twitter about knocking a cyclist off their bike?

Or he's smart enough to know not to talk to the press and let plod do their thing.

The fact the girl felt the need to "get across her side of the story", when it was putting her side of the story in the public domain, that got her in trouble to start with... Now that's got guilt written all over it.

Suspended from her job though? WTF? Unless she was on company business.

Your conduct both in and out of work hours can bring disrepute upon the company. You want your accountant to be an honest, intelligent, upstanding member of society. Not a lying, dizzy blond, scumbag.

Would you want her doing your accounts?

I would imagine being convicted of a hit and run would create trust issues between a professional and their clients which may amount to gross misconduct. Whilst there is a suspicion of such an offence I would have thought it reasonable for an employer to suspend the employee until there is an outcome.

Well, at least one of these statements is not true.

Her employer got dragged into the twitter feed - I imagine they took action to protect their reputation.

Would you really want to employ someone so epically stupid?
Not again, no...

Might not've been the same cyclist.

That's if she wasn't exaggerating on Twitter for some sort of comedy value.

Just because she tweeted "Definitely knocked a cyclist off his bike earlier #bloodycyclists" does not mean she decked particular this guy, or knew about it if she did, and is guilty of anything.
