I see Winsor had the neck to turn up in a Chief Officers uniform.
Has the man no shame?. Very very poor form.
There was some interesting stuff on Today in Parliament on BBC Radio 4 23.30-00.00 Thursday 13 February 2014.

Hayley Dixon The Telegraph website 11 February 2014 said:
A widow has accused Police Federation officials of using a memorial service as a “drunken jolly” paid for on expenses.

Kate Parker, whose husband Andrew was killed in a car accident, said that ever year officials upset grieving families by partying late into the night and treating it “like a holiday”.

While representatives at the National Police Memorial Day have their travel and accommodation paid for, families struggle to afford the trip to the service to remember fallen officers, the serving PC complained on Twitter.

1. I didn't start the thread.

2. It's not me that reportedly was treating the Police Memorial Day like some trade conference knees up with beer, food and all the trimmings.

How does treating a Memorial Day that way show respect compared to any perceived disrespect shown by Winsor's ceremonial uniform?

3. It was discussed in Parliament on Thursday along with the new £26 Million Police Federation HQ at Leatherhead with eleven 'grace and favour' apartments.

4. The Telegraph article says it was a serving officer that Tweeted their displeasure at what was going at the Memorial Day. So it seems even serving officers aren't best pleased with the Police Federation mob.

5. I'd be more obsessed if it was my Police Federation subscriptions that was paying for it.

One person complains on Twitter - excuse me why I don't get OBSESSED.

The Fed have served me well with support and top legal advice when I needed it.

I assume you won't apply as much weight to my single voice as you do hers, will you? Didn't think so.

As soon as you see who the poster is, you should expect something inane, pointless and worthy of a Sec 136
Just read through the whole thread. I see this statement is still valid.

Saw the title to this thread and said to my other half there will be two definite posters, babbling the usual anti-Police nonsense. How predictable life is.
So a year after a police widow said that the Police Federation like boozy parties, their self appointed Professional Standards guru gets snotty with a woman at an Xmas party works do?

Top official is forced to quit over verbal abuse of female colleague after boozy Christmas lunch Daily Mail website Christmas Eve 2014 said:
A top official at the scandal-hit Police Federation has quit after verbally abusing a female colleague following a boozy Christmas lunch attended by senior officers.

Vice-chairman Steve Evans became the union’s third high-ranking member to resign under a cloud this year.

Insiders said he had no choice but to step down after having a heated altercation with the woman during which ‘very angry words were exchanged’.

Not predictable or foreseeable at all eh?

It's a bit unfortunate that Steve Evans got abusive at a woman at a Works Xmas do less than two months after saying Special Constables should be reserved for back up and not be relied upon for mainstream deployment:

Seems he was another BiB that couldn't walk the talk. From a glass half full perspective at least he was dealt with last year so his behaviour could not continue going forward into 2015.

Looking back through this thread, I don't think the section 136 jibes were very clever when three police officers will appear in court this month in relation to the death of Thomas Orchard in police custody in October 2012.

Supposedly he'd had a heart attack. An independent person at the autopsy asked what the marks were around his head. It was then discovered that he'd had a restraint belt strapped around his face that may have interfered with his ability to breathe.

I've been on the receiving end of abuse from police officers in real life, so online insults here don't bother me. But if it makes you feel good and you think you're flying the police flag feel free to fill your boots.

Windsor has suggested that in order to overcome the mess he's made of the service, the police should not deal with minor crimes, like theft. It seems that the massive reduction in manpower has come as something of a surprise to him and his solution is that the police should just ignore the needs of the public and make out that they can cope with the limited resources they have. Just do the major crime or two.

the man is a berk.

The French had 3000 non-operational officers in Paris within a few hours of the shooting. Their equipment level is quite remarkable. I saw one bit of footage that showed three 'police helicopters' in the air within sight of each other.

Does anyone know who else put themselves forward for the Winsor post when it was advertised?

The thing that was going through my mind when seeing the footage of the murders in Paris was that, despite the fact that France is somewhat bigger than the UK, they could mobilise very quickly.

Just like we used to be able to do.

Did he actually say that?
