Ok, so I'm going get blasted for this but life's too short, etc.

I'll confess that I post rarely, often about lavatorial stuff which I find highly amusing and almost always stuff that I've picked from the police forum, coz I admit that I used to work for the Bill, so there you go.

Anyway, this one just can't not be shared. The original is on the KMB forum.

Not that I revel in anyone else's misfortune but I've just read a post on the Unmentionable's board which cruelly tickled my warped sense of humour but also left me aghast. Some bloke has posted about how disgusted he was with a response given by a member of the public to his nephew, who is a copper.

Apparently his nephew was on duty at an Opening of Parliament event, or similar, in central London and after absolutely ages standing on duty without being relieved, he was beyond desperate for the toilet for a wee. Eventually, he had no alternative other than to ask to be stood down, seemingly to the annoyance of senior officers, and he literally hobbled off in search of a loo. However, being unfamiliar with the area he didn't know where to go but found a small shop, went in and asked/pleaded to use the toilet - but astonishingly, the shopkeeper refused, saying he was fed up with people asking.

Guess what? Incredibly, with nowhere else obvious to go and at breaking point and unable to wait, the young officer went back outside and just uncontrollably "did it in his trousers" out in the street before he could find anywhere else!!

His uncle has posted a furious tirade asking how anyone could be so heartless as the shopkeeper. His nephew was apparently, and unsurprisingly, left very humiliated by what happened.

I know it's not really funny and must have been awful for him but on the other hand ... is there a small sense of irony, do you think?"

On the board where it was posted there's loads of "he should have just p**sed in his helmet" type of comments, which you'd expect but joking aside, in all seriousness, what on earth could he have done in such a predicament? What a situation to be in!

Tin helmet on and all views received.

Unfortunate situation for anyone.

I can't see the funny side tbh.

Not sure what is Ironic about it.

However, I can see the shopkeepers view. My family had a small shop and people asked for the loo all the time. For ages we didn't even have a proper staff loo. It was actually in our house. So no, we are not letting strangers wander round our house and use our bog. Just because the building is public you have access to the bits we give you permission for.

That said, would probably have made an exception for a copper in uniform.

The police should arrest him for disgracing himself in the street. Thats what they do to people on nights out that have a wee against a wall when they can't find a toilet.

Agree.
After all the recent disgrace the Police have brought on themselves I might be expected to say Tough Shut. But human dignity says this guy really did need a break.
He's not going to like the world and the public too much after his sad experience. So not good. Sorry for him.

I can understand the shopkeepers view point.
A while ago we had a new kitchen delivered. One of the delivery men asked to use the loo.
No problem we directed him to the bathroom. It was only after they left that the wife found that he had managed to urinated all over the bathroom floor.
Now I know it can happen that you miss the target but he didn’t even make an effort to clean it up. Dirty .

Never heard of the "disgracing yourself in the street" offence. But good contribution. Genius.

That actually must have been awful for him.

Public toilets are becoming quite rare.

I'm getting old now, in my 50's, but in my younger days I cannot imagine anyone refusing a Police Officer, or Seviceman , in uniform, use of a toilet.

Earlier this year we even had soldiers in uniform being refused coffee in a pub, or something like that.

If a copper knocked on my door busting for a piss, i'd let him in and make him a cuppa too. Don't the underappreciated sods have to put up with enough as it is?

And lets get it straight, i've had a few clipped ears off of coppers, but they're normal people too.

I have sympathy for the squelchy footed PC. I suspect Alex Ferguson, erstwhile Manchester United Manager might have a little less...smile

Health & Safety Regulations demand that you must provide sufficient sanitary facilities for employees. Even small building projects have portaloos. Are the Police exempt from these regulations?

Bit difficult when they are out on street duty policing a public event.

Perhaps the shopkeeper had previously dialled 999 and the response had not been to his satisfaction.

Perhaps he had received a NOIP that morning.

Perhaps he had contraband stashed in the loo.

Just three possibilities for his refusal.

If he was policing something in central London why not walk the 1/2 mile or so to New Scotland Yard, or even closer, all the civil service buildings in the area?

But, I agree appalling behaviour from shop keeper.

Creampuff. Check threads he's started I think it's called "I pissed on my passport" or something similar.
