If you've not already done so it may also be worth putting a grievance in against the person who texted.

You could also (but perhaps not recommended yet) have a letter sent to the home address of the manager in question by your lawyer, drawing a line in the sand that they may be personally accountable for any loss/costs incurred. (An action I've taken and it does make certain types of people take a step back from a situation just for the WTF factor)

Another course of action might be to have a quiet word in the ear of a member of the board of directors and just give him a heads up that a member of staff is putting the company into an 'at risk' situation.

What a rubbish lawyer you must have! Sending such a letter is almost as wky as sending a text threatening to dock someone's wages.

My partner has just received a text message from her line manager informing her that .....anything

Thanks = NW

Informing someone by text of anything business related or related to their employment is Totally unprofessional and in my very humble opinion is pretty naff to start with.

As regards additional requirements above and beyond normal, I worked somewhere where if you had a day off within 1 week of a factory shut down they expected a sick note, but would refund the cost. Doctor would charge £16 at the time. It cut the pre-holiday sickies out by 90%....

What's amazing is how everyone can give firm advice when we probably don't have the full story....
I had enough to go on: SMS used for business / serious matters and txt spk / poor grammar by someone supposedly in a position of responsibility to their staff.

Jerk just for that, don't know about the actual case.

Well oddly the salary was present in the bank account in full at 5am yesterday morning (the 2pm piece seems to have been an idle threat).

Just to clarify, the 25 days' absence was due to a Gall Bladdder removal and subsequent complications

I think I'd be letting the Union's legal team know the details of this latest development.
It smacks of bullying by the same women.

When transferring out of LA control some Academies have tried to replace functions such as HR and Finance with unqualified and inexperienced admin staff.
This is so very true in this case. That said, incumbent "Finance Director" (Partner's line manager) has no formal accounting qualifications and has been there for years (even before academy status) and HR person has some quite startling interpretations of government legislation. As a pair they are quite the enigma!

Hmm, could be a detriment as a result of whistleblowing....

Exactly the point, "certain types of people" being 'wky people', they only respond to counter wkyness.

I think this is something the local papers may be interested in. Schools don't like bad publicity.
