If you have a government gateway ID then you may check your endorsements online:

I love the high tech hoonage-endorsements on my licence - written using a special HMG biro, and later crossed out with a different HMG biro.

Unlikely to be anything written on your DRIVING LICENCE. Largely irrelevant what's scribbled on your COUNTERPART DRIVING LICENCE. Courts refer to the DVLA print-out. It's been this way for years.

Top pedant skillz, agt!

This, by the way, raises the question of why public money is spent asking for licences to be sent in (both parts) and then returning them with a squiggle on the counterpart. I hope the new system will obviate the need for this.

License is a perfectly good English word.
So is Licence.
License is the verb.
Licence is the noun.

(I really hope that's the right way round)

Because it's not only the authorities who have access to the database who might want to know your driving record, e.g. hire companies, employers etc.

Yo Dawg! We heard you like licences, so we put a licenSe in your licence so you can license while you license. Word.
Wrong.
It's C for a noun (eg advice) and S for a verb (eg advise)

eta - Word.

Does this mean that I won't have a paper record of a valid licence? The idiots drop groups when licences are returned to the DVLA for address change etc, so I'm sure there will be no problems then.

"Our records do not show that you have a licence, we can't accept your historical piece of paper"
I think it means we still have the photocard licence (which by the way details the entitlements), just that the counterpart will go.

Wrong my GREEN licence has endorsements written in biro on it & others crossed out. We haven't all got new fangled licences yet you know!

So this database will have a flag for those of us that have done the IAM or RoSPA advanced tests so the government backed NUDGE scheme can exempt those that have passed those tests from the Insurance Premium Tax on insurance premiums?

A little carrot for people to take further driving training and pay less tax. Job done.

Yerp, but what when we all have just plastic cards? Presumably lawful access to the database at a cost will be part of the system, as now.

Suppose someone had points more than 5 years ago. Will they still show up?
