Cant say I have ever heard or seen an NSL in a built up area, those are either 30 or 40, am I missing something?

The roads through this village are all NSL: http://goo.gl/maps/3naCB

The street view is a bit old, there's actually houses on both sides of the road from the street view car to the A537 now. Also the A537 is now a 50 limit, so you turn off an A road into a village and go through an NSL sign.

Unless I missed something, as you come out of the village onto the A537 there are no sighs to indicate 50, neither could I see any going into the village at all, neither NSL or 30. I am intrigued now, back to the map.

I know the village is 30, but are you saying there is an NSL sign somewhere?

There wasn't at the time the street view car passed by. There is now.

When the street view car went by, the A road and village were both NSL, hence no signs.
Now the A road is 50, but the village is still NSL, so there are signs as you enter the village.

Not sure why you think the village is 30; there are no street lights, nor repeaters.

Not to labour the point, but is there an actual NSL sign as you enter the village and the A road. If the A road is 50, I can't understand how this can be represented by an NSL, just asking.

Your probably right about the village speed limit, I just thought you wouldn't want to be zipping past houses at 60.

Tks.

There are NSL signs as you turn from the A road into the village, and 50 signs as you turn from the village on to the A road.

Also I wouldn't normally drive through there at 60, given the way the road bends it would be pretty hairy at the sort of speed.

They must be recent then. They weren't there in May this year.

Having just read this thread, I've been somewhat surprised at the fact that from what you say, most of you seem to be remarkably law abiding. I don't know if it's because you live in areas of high population density or because most of you seem to be young enough to have been habituated into accepting greater levels of policing of speed limits and perhaps learned to drive in a climate that didn't encourage you to hoon around in your younger days. If that's the case, you may not have developed the necessary skills to enable you to drive at higher speeds and exploit the performance of your performance cars. I am in the correct place, this is PistonHeads, isn't it....?

I fully agree with the premise of the thread that the 45 mph brigade are a pain. They have been for as long as i can remember and for a long time, most of them drove Volvo 340's. However, I reluctantly accept that not everyone has the ability to make good progress in all road conditions and to deny them personal motorised transport because of their ineptitude as drivers would be somewhat Draconian. For my part, my default A road and often B road cruising speed is in the 60 - 80 mph range with the odd foray up to three figures on the more deserted stretches. As a motorcyclist as well as a driver for c. 40 years, anything less than that feels much too slow enough.

Thank you for that. Learn something every day.
