So in other words you are not employed by the HA. The HA do not set any speed enforcement policy for the police and the police don't tend to inform highways contractors what their enforcement policy is either.

Your mate at the HA isn't aware of any police policy for that area and if he thinks he is he is not displaying that. smile
I dont have a mate at the HA i deal with them everyday.

Yes they do tell their asset support/managing agent contractors what the policy is as we put the cameras up and maintain them, they pay us to maintain the their network manage the ncc control centres, ISUs we have airwave radios we laise with police etc. I have ha id card and ha marked ppe etc. We are effectively paid to be the ha apart from HATOS which are nothing to do with us.

Why are you on such an offence with me. I provide you some inside information based on the areas I know and you go out of your to discredit it. I have never had a ticket nor do I know of someone having oen from a gantry camera on the ha network for exceeding the nsl. The only tickets I have seen enforcing reduced limits. Take that info and do what you like.

Changing the point slightly and something I mentioned earlier.. I thought cameras were a safety thing not a traffic mgmt thing. They're obviously not a safety thing if they're either not or not universally turned on when the NSL is in force. I guess they have the freedom to o what they want (and it's probably hard to find a stretch of motorway where there hadn't be a KSI incident) but it foes smack a little of hypocrisy to send someone on a SAC about safety when the crime is traffic mgmt

I'm fairly certain the M25 ones enforce the NSL nowadays...

Anyway, welcome back Steve...

KSI = Killed and Seriously Injured. Its one of the stats they use to determine camera locations

I suppose it's related to safety if it keeps traffic flowing and prevents snarl ups because that's the kind of situation in which you get shunts. Of course, people jumping on their brakes as they reach speed cameras can cause shunts as well.

Stung by Bristol managed motorway camera during NSL, no limit displayed.
