If the police officers indicated that you move forward out of their way then you have a defence, I think.

If the camera has both the police van and your Seat Lean Sport in the photo you may have some defence.

I think all photos are checked by a person first before being sent out, so it's possible yours will get rejected before it's sent.

In a similar vein back in 2004, when driving into work one morning I approached the end of the M32 in Bristol, where it used to split into 5 lanes. Across the 5 lanes was a Pelican crossing guarded with a 'red light' camera. On one occasion as I approached the crossing in the far right lane, the lanes to my left was full up and in my rear view mirror an ambulance appeared about 5-6 cars back (blues flashing). As the lights were red I had no choice (in my mind) but to carry on through them at the speed I was going (about 25mph), thus setting the camera off.

I emailed the Avon & Somerset Const as soon as I arrived into work, explaining the situation and asking for their advice. They replied saying they had passed my query on to the Safety Camera Partnership that run the cam. I had a phone call from the SCU the following morning thanking me for my message, to gather further details and to let me know they will be retrieving the film from the camera the following day.

The SCP never replied (regardless of much chasing!) and a NIP (TS10) duly arrived in the post. I contested the NIP and took it to court. It took 8 months for the court date to arrive, where I pleaded the mitigating circumstances. The judge awarded in my favour stating the prosecution failed to provide evidence that an emergency run wasn't in progress at the time. All runs are logged included time, date, start, route and finish.

Of course the fact that by speeding up and ignoring all advice on how to deal with emegergency vehicles you have probably just saved someones life according to the logic of some on here.

Also some of experts take a siren from the police as an instruction to not to comply with any traffic laws and to do all in your power to aid the progress of the police vehicle.

Where a static camera is involved, don't bet the farm on this being done - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1204944/Dr...

The police themselves say not to contravene any road laws - http://www.sussex.police.uk/help-centre/ask-us/roa...

Any result in court depends on what view the bench takes of the evidence put before it. They are people, just like us, and therefore can be inconsistent. Some are more likely to give you the benefit than others.

You're banging this drum again.

Can't you just accept that different people have different opinions on the right thing to do in any given situation.

Some people listen to advise, but then make up their own mind at the time.
There's nothing wrong that, listening to advise and understanding advise and following advise aren't always the same things.
Advice is not law.

Being passive aggressive about it won't help your argument at all.

Quite, but if the police advice is not to break any traffic laws they can hardly complain if you follow it can they?

Unfortunately. unlike a police driver, a camera is not sentient. That is the central issue we, and the OP, have to deal with. Then it devolves to someone in a windowless room who wasn't present at the time of the incident and may well not have the full facts.

A classic example of the law of unintended consequences.

Surely this thread would not have been posted if the OP had been more aware of the BIB approaching in plenty of time and gave himself a chance of getting out of the way earler.

(Unless as Loon says did it suddenly appeared out of nowhere !)

It's very rare that you'll see a cop criticise a mop for following that advice and staying in the way.(it happens, but it's rare).

But, it's just as rare that cop will be angry if a mop decides to not follow that advice and safely moves aside even though they break a road rule.

Police boxes used to appear out of nowhere with a whooooooo whooooooo noise.
Police cars are just the new quicker models that appear out of nowhere with a woowoo noise.

When you're in an SLS then things just appear behind you. I haven't seen it when not in an SLS but have when in an SLS. However, this is not just any SLS, but "the" SLS according to the OP.

I find it strange that the discussion is about speed, police or what to do when it really should be about the SLS.

The "Worst 'I have XXxxxxxx thread ever" is a time honoured PH meme.
It's just a joke.
It's not genuinely implying that you are being smug and arrogant about owning an SLS.

Although, your reply does imply that a bit.

Edit. Btw, I think you mean envious rather than jealous.
