I'm starting to think this is all cunning viral marketing for Mercedes' supercar to push it up the Google rankings. I wish I had an SLS.

You can only drive an SLS if you're sure which lane you were in.

Knowing the spidering qualities of Google and how good the PH ranking is, I have been checking for the search term Pistonheads SLS since this morning. I don't think it's been spidered yet... wink

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer part of your training is to verbalise the makes and models of all the equipment you are using. Seems like the OP is never really off duty smile

He was the guy in the left lane, or was it the right lane, as you overtook in your SLS.

Does the SLS have an interlock to stop occupants opening the Gullwings when it's moving? That may have been useful in this instance.

O/T - Gary, where's that hard drive you were going to mail me?

Update, I just received notice that i will be prosecuted after dismissing the mitigating circumstances I presented by letter. I feel quite pi**ed off at this and would like to know if any of you lot can advise me if I can ask for the photograph before I decide whether or not to take this further. Options are take the fine, go on speed awareness course or go to court.

Did you mention to them that it's an SLS?

Actually, on a serious note is the Police van visible in the photos? That's pretty much the only way a defence would succeed- IE a discharge at Court etc.

Now you know why a lot of people on here won't creep through a red light for the emergency services.

Even if the police vehicle is visible in the photo, that in itself doesn't prove anything. You would need to prove it was on an emergency which would entail trying to get those details from the relevant police force, something I would imagine they probably can't be arsed to do. Even then I think you're wasting your time trying to defend this.

As someone posted above; getting out of the way of the emergency services does not mean break the law.

I guess I will have to take it as my work keeps me abroad for most of the time, but it certainly changes my perspective now on what to do when emergency services want to pass me.
Thank you for all your comments. Oh by the way did I mention I was driving an SLS at the time lol.

To all, thank you to all of you genuine Ph members who have understood my thread and provided some useful guidance about the issue. To all of you other W**kers I would like you to know that I have worked hard all my life to be able to afford an SLS and PORSHE and Q7 and JCW and HYABUSA so could not care if you question my credibility on this site your all just a bunch of sad B**tards.
Why the anger? Your first post didn't make much sense regarding the circumstances of the event, what you were driving is entirely irrelevant and you got teased for it. Just a bit of usual PH banter. Can't see the justification for the aggressive response personally. Just saying smile

Sent an email to the police yesterday advising that I have accepted the speed awareness course and that I would have preferred to attend a court hearing but due to financial burden with me working in China this was not feasible. I also requested the address of the police complaints department as I was not happy that they dismissed the mitigating circumstances without any explanation. They replied with an apology and said after further review of the footage that as I was in the inside lane and police emergency services in the outside lane I had no reason to be speeding ignoring the fact that I was originally in the outside lane and had to increase my speed. I told them this and have not yet received a response so hopefully I will get my prosecution upturned.
