How does that work when people stick or block the rear window of a vehicle which they otherwise would of been able to see out of.

Yes, it's a stupid piece of legislation but going by the letter, if you taped a bag over the back window or put a piece of cardboard over it etc, it would technically comply as you would have no view to the rear.

(ii) at least one mirror fitted internally, unless a mirror so fitted would give the driver no view to the rear of the vehicle.

Couple of years ago in my 205 I had slowed down nr Gaydon to make a right turn, Astra van behind me was not paying attention and slammed on his brakes, they locked up and it would have plowed into the back of me had I not floored it forwards. Meant I missed my turn and had to drive into a layby to turn around but without the rear view probably would not have ended as well! Could see him in side mirror too but rear view defo made it more obvious. It it makes sense for the vehicle I would rather have one than not.

I cannot see out of the rear and ditched my rear view mirror a long time ago as all it did was encroach upon the view out of the front screen. No problems at MOT time.
Really what car are you driving?

I remember when I had my one a few years ago - ordered it new in '07 & the dealer joked about how they were still obliged to fit the mirror to ensure the car was road legal when it was registered / supplied and so it could be driven off the forecourt, even though it was pointless due to the big intercooler sat right in the field of vision hehe

First thing I did when I got home was remove it. It only got refitted when I sold the car back to the dealer a few years later hehe

Oh right failed to mention that it also had its view block by intercooler.

Fair enough it sounded like you ripped it out cause of just the forward vision issue.

I've resorted to being a girl and I've installed parking sensors. I'm 6'3" tall so sit quite high in the seat so the taller end of the windscreen when sat and the rear view mirror was a hindrance for frontal visibility with no benefit to the rear.
