Perhaps you were in a 20 zone ?

I haven't seen a scamera in one, but who knows, I'm sure it'll happen eventually.
And when it does, I'm sure there will be many many people giving the government the return on their investment they were hoping for!

In 2009 I got caught by a mobile speed camera at 11am on a Sunday morning for 33 in a 30.
It was it a Japanese import with the speedo converter chip thing.
I argued the +/-% by post and forwarded stuff that way. it went to court which i could not attend due to illness where because i appealed i got slapped with 6 points and wait a £1125 fine.

I appealed this and it was subsequently dropped to 6 points and a £525 fine because i was unemployed.

This was Cleveland in Teesside.

If they are wanting figures they will press for anything.
This reads as if you have measured the 33mph with your inaccurate speedometer NOT the value detected by the speed camera.

Cleveland do not issue tickets at 33mph.

Northamptonshire. Wife attended a SAC for 34 in a 30. Saw ticket with my own eyes. No I'm not posting it up as I haven't a clue where it is anymore.

Although I'm not certain what you are hoping to achieve here.

I think he is being sneaky, by claiming the guidelines prevent it (debatable) and are being followed rigidly, when the reality is guidelines are not always followed to the letter.

No matter what position he holds in speed enforcement, it is unlikely he would have access to every single instance of enforcement in this country to be able to confirm or refute any single accusation.

I suspect he's fed up of 'pub confirmations' and thinks myths are being perpetuated with no basis in substance. I can partially sympathise with this, though perhaps not to the extent that I disbelieve everything posted without a scanned copy.

The OP mentions his speedo over reading and his HUD showing 31.

Is the HUD in this case actually the speedo or is the HUD a separate GPS speedo.
Was the car speedo showing 38 and the GPS showing 31?

That would change the story somewhat.

HUD showed 31mph. I have subsequently compared HUD vs speedo and they seem in line. I still need to get a separate GPS into the car to compare average GPS speed vs HUD/speedo.

Willing to be told i am talking out my arse but we have one near us that just flashes at random cars regularly. It is on an NSL by a nasty junction and in the last few months the Mrs has been flashed at anything from 41 to 57 mph (S2K so digital speedo read out, hence exact figures) She has seen it flash many others at all sorts of speeds, none of whom she has perceived to be doing over the limit. (she is not blessed with the God given exacting ability the law bestows upon bib to assess this but is very good at speed perception).

Again I have also seen from a few other cameras flashes where there was no offence visible.

My conclusion is that it is the tricksey little feckers keeping us on our toes.

What do you mean by HUD?
Is it an aftermarket add on or something built into the car?

It's very unlikely a camera would be set to trigger at 31mph.
That leaves 2 reasonable options.

1. The camera was faulty in some way.
2. You were going faster than you thought.

Wait and see if you get a ticket I guess.

I'm guessing Caddy or similar which have HUD as standard.

That said I have a HUD speedo app for my Android from when the dash lights on the 968 went AWOL for a few weeks and for long SPECS runs at night.

I'd get a GPS and test your speedo ASAP.

I've had a few cars on our rolling road with the fault that the speedo was out of calibration from the supplier.

One Ford Galaxy we had in was running on the road a bit more than the speedo was actually indicating.

After much pushing, it transpired that the dealer had damaged a wheel, they didn't have another exact match so they chucked another set of wheels on without checking that the rolling radius matched.

Not sure how they guy got on with his speeding ticket, but I wrote a report for him to take to court to say that the speedo was out.

HUD = BMW's factory fitted head up display

1. Possible
2. Indicated speed was 31mph on the HUD just before the double flash

Still no tickets seen below 35 in a 30 and 46 in a 40.

Oh well I wait with interest and great anticipation.

OK. So, the speedo then.
The fact it's a HUD is irrelevant.

That was my understanding but i had the points on my licence and the fine to prove.

I will see if i still have the photograph with the speed on it.

I was done for 33!!!
