Well it appears he has been given a caution and is back at home now looking after the kids. I don't know if there will be any conditions with this. Sounds like a good result that he wasn't charged if only for the kids' sake.

OH's sister has gone AWOL and turned phone off. No prizes for guessing where she probably is.

Pair of bloody idiots! God knows what the kids make of it all.

It's impossible to say what is likely to happen as there are so many variables involved depending on the police policy and how far the wife wants to push it.

He could just get a verbal warning, or he could end up in court on an ABH charge.

He could loose access to his home and likely children for the immediate future.

The loss of control for just a moment could cause him a whole word of pain and inconvenience.
Would have to have been a mighty slap to result in enough evidence to proceed with an ABH charge!

That's my understanding of it.

However they will now be 'on the radar' .

Social w**ker involvement will depend on whether there are other triggers / concerns recently and if the kids were in the house / witnesses.

This is spot on. We've been through something very similar. Gaining a conviction is a lot harder than most would believe. In the absence of indpendent witnesses or overwhelming physical evidence it will be nigh on impossible. However....a track record can be established. And from what I've seen the police should not be underestimated when it commes to putting 2&2 together in these cases even where they cannot gain a conviction. It all counts should a situation escalate in the future.

OP - Sensible action by the Police IMO.

She sounds like a nightmare.

Tell him to sort out his finances and protect whatever funds he has.
Maybe line up a solicitor as well.

Her "bit of fun" will have far reaching consequences, selfish cow.
