The no MoT offence is extremely minor and non-endorsable - although it is clearly capable of triggering an ANPR ping.

The C&R and no insurance issues are much more serious and will drive your costs whether or not you are pulled.

I'd get it trailered for £60.
By the time you've paid for the insurance and petrol is it worth the ballache and arguments for the difference, if you get pulled?

faulty brakes is an offence, but a brake line with just signs of corrosion is not
if you were to give a few good hard stomps on the brake pedal and found it held, then it's reasonably to consider it still roadworthy enough today to be taken for an MOT.

For the umpteenth time...there's no mention of distance in the regs. Why do people insist on repeating this myth every week on here?
I think that's down to one of these .gov type websites stating something along those lines...but yes, I don't think there's an MOT thread on here where someone doesn't say it
That is exactly why you should never bet the farm on the specious information peddled by .gov.uk. It is designed to make you believe what the 'gov' wants you to. A none-too-subtle form of propaganda. The word garage is entirely absent from the enabling S.I.

One should always refer to the primary/subordinate legislation to find the real answer. Doing so can sometimes be difficult but there is usually someone on here who knows what it is. The link I posted (VERA 1984) is not the primary source (SS2 has provided it) but the relevant provisions mirror those of the 1981 Regulations.

My Puma had an advisory for corroded brake lines the MOT before its last. Garage gave them a rub down and waxoyl, and then didnt even advise them on the next one they did.

I would trailer the car but the I enjoy trailerring cars about. t have a preponderance of trailers as well as kit cars. I would definitely not risk it ? There are so many ways to easily transgress the motoring laws deliberately taking a risk is no longer worthwhile IMO. The consequences of prosecution need t declared on all insurance quotes and having many policies all based on a clean licence this would just be too risky for me personally.
