there are 4 in total on that list which can hit 150 in 1/4
You need to know what you're looking at. There are a lot of non-sports bikes on that list and a lot of very old tackle. Conversely, there are also a lot of bikes which are not only well into the 140s but are also VERY financially accessible.

I've said this before but - as an owner - the performance of a genuine, albeit off the peg 21st century litre sports bike can properly mess with your head, unless you're used to VERY fast vehicles. There was a quantum leap around the mid-2000s. I'd take a punt that you're not going to experience these levels of performance on 4 wheels without spending a lonnnnng way into 6 figures (or very serious modification).
Having easily accessible 150mph performance doesn't mean it just happens without you knowing you are travelling at high speed though. It's a conscious decision to twist & hold the wrist.

Absolutely - but even where high speed is allowed and you have consciously twisted and held, you can still be surprised at the numbers if you glance down.

The most he would have been allowed to do legally was 70 & if he was doing more than double that he'd have been aware he was exceeding 70 by a large margin (& still keeping the wrist twisted) without glancing down.

He didn't suggest it wasn't a conscious action, he said that it can be deceptively fast. If you've ridden a sports bike you'll have some appreciation of that. Getting 10 or even 20 mph over the speed limit can be easy to do by accident, especially on a fast, open road where the rest of the traffic is travelling above he NSL. Getting to 150 is not something you do by accident, though it can surprise even an experienced rider quite how quickly the numbers can fly by.

That's what I was saying & you'd be aware with such a large margin over the limit without needing to glance at the clocks. I'd imagine that's how the court would view it.

I think the clue is when the rest of the traffic looks stationary and the horizon appears to be being winched in towards the bike, generally.

Your not wrong, i had a go on a mates GSXR600, was as fast as the litre bikes of the 90's, quite a shock, considering i hadnt rode one in ten years.
