Sorry for the delay folks!

Outcome isn't that interesting - an hour or so after posting they came back and I asked them politely to gerroff my land. They said they were told by another neighbour that it was a communal space. I made clear to them that it definitely isn't, so hopefully it won't happen again.
As expected in a few words. Hopefully that will be the end for the OP any repetition might require a less friendly approach. Good manners are generally productive in such circumstances.

Let's see how his restraint holds up when they claim his bathroom is a communal space....smile

Quite.

For the sake of the OP I do hope this goes no further. The neighbours must be pretty daft to make a mistake of this sort. Not the best perhaps.

When the OP says 'drive' I assumed it was the parch of tarmac/concrete somewhere between the from gate and the front door.

Not something that could ever be considered public or shared space.

OP, could you explain the geography of the 'drive'.

Thanks.
It's not important at all, I'm just curious.

Question to those legal types out there... if it is illegal to block access to a public highway, how do car parks get on with signs that say "these gates will be shut at 8pm" etc?

Are they actually not allowed to close them if you are still parked there?

I think, in the same situation, after exhausting civil avenues, I'd resort to four of these to move the offending car out of the driveway, park my own car in the drive then move the offending car such that it blocks my access to the public highway, then report them for doing so.

It's a patch of tarmac adjacent to my house (big enough for two cars, my other car was parked on there). No gates.

Although it's not legal, suggestions of blocking them in are not really viable as I'd be restricting my other neighbours' access.

Anyway, hopefully it won't happen again...

So they didn't actually drive through your front gates then

I can see how the mistake occurred.

So it's not driveway, do you have proof it's your land, as it's sounds like it's nothing to do with you and you a bord curtain twitcher.

I was bored, Google Translate was just a click away, and I made x1 grammar and x1 spelling correction before I got this:

comme c'est sonne comme il n'a rien à voir avec vous et vous êtes un rideau twitcher s'ennuyer.

I don't know why I did it though

Because you can. Google the internet and most things educational (or not) are possible. One hell of a tool. If you will pardon the expression.
