When I had to attend the crash scene on the M26 on Wednesday evening I was told to go carefully by the highways agency bods as the police were with a car that had ignored the closure and tried to proceed up the closed motorway , he was prevented from going far by a large highways wagon parked across the carriageway.
Whats the charges likely to be ? Also he was already disqualified !

Depending on exactly how it was signed or directed, possibly 3 points and a fine for ignoring the motorway closure. More importantly, possible jail time or at least a community order for driving while disqualified.

Wasnt there someone on here complaining they had been done for driving in a closed lane (marked by the red X)

Yes there was - and they deserved it.

I did read about a disqualified driver caught by police waiting for him at the end of his road. They knew when he'd be driving because he was due in court that morning on a charge of driving while disqualified.

Also easy pickings for plod waiting in the car park outside magistrates court catching people who've just been banned getting into their cars to drive home.

I know the Papers use archive photos of locations in their reports sometimes, but the one in the article of Lakeside has got to be about 20-30 years old! A quick look at what's parked up shows an old Orion, a Fiesta and a BX! Well done Daily Mail - couldn't find anything more recent?
