I have read it. I dread seeing a yodel card when i get home
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=3&a...I had a diamond ring sent by a company who swore that they only used specialist couriers and it was all perfectly safe. Delivery arranged for pre 9am-nothing arrived by 12 and I had to go out.
When I returned home there was a note through the door-package delivered 3 doors down at 15.30 to the house we like to call the crack den.. Honestly this place should have a health warning-luckily I managed to retrieve it but I'm sure if they'd have known what was inside it would have disappeared.
The courier was called Parcehole farce or something

So did you claim your delivery fee's back due to it not being delivered by 9?When I returned home there was a note through the door-package delivered 3 doors down at 15.30 to the house we like to call the crack den.. Sounds like the company you purchased the ring from posted as cheap as possible rather than using a more expensive by 9am service.

Had a yodel delivery yesterday. Thankfully nespresso coffee, but the driver would have had to climb over or unlock a locked gate, only to throw the parcel over another locked gate. Glad it wasn't fragile
I had one singing driver throw a parcel containing a £200+ flash over my eight foot gates. Luckily it was Amazon who sent me a replacement without demur.ETA: We were of course in at the time !!

In reality there are no reliable couriers left. The company I Work for has been through all of them and they are all useless and constantly being caught out lying and that's with a company they hold a big contract with. Do you really think they give a st about a one off household customer? Pre 10, pre 9 generally means they'll falsely sign the pod before they deliver it and then sometime that day (if you're lucky) it'll get delivered. The number of times we are waiting on a customer site waiting for a part to be delivered that already has a pod is laughable. The couriers will often learn the name of a manager or someone n a site and then sign their name away on deliveries that haven't even been delivered. It really is outrageous what goes on. Sounds like the company you purchased the ring from posted as cheap as possible rather than using a more expensive by 9am service.

Plus the item is tracked each stage of it's journey the only down side is it costs more than some fly by night courier service.

My experiences with FedEx and DPD have generally been reasonable.
Can't comment on FedEx but in my experience also DPD have always been good. For my last delivery by them I was given a 1 hour window and the van could be tracked online so I knew it was in the area and how many drops before they got to me.For the last year or so Amazon have delivered to me using their own couriers but I think that might be something they only do in certain areas. They even delivered something on a Sunday that I ordered the day before.
I on the other hand have the opposite experience of DPD. On three occasions in the last 6 months they have not bothered to make a delivery, stating either that the "address is inaccessible" or that "no one was home" as their reasons. I've not had any other problems with other couriers that I can recall, but DPD have consistently let me down. Its not been the same driver either (as that could go some way to isolating the issue).
The last time (when "no one was home"), I was waiting at home for an important delivery (which I had paid extra for next day) and was "tracking" the delivery driver via the online portal. It was a delivery or two away (and 5 or so minutes) and the next thing I find is an email through my inbox to say that no one was home.
Wasn't impressed.

There's been some discussion on this on the Amazon threads. Some folks think they're great, some don't. From what I could work out it seemed very dependant on the area. Without doubt DPD have been by far the best for me. One driver even apologised because he was a coupe of minutes over the allotted delivery time-span. I'd vote DPD every time.
I think so much is down to the driver who does your area.
Our yodel chap is pretty good apart from the time he left a parcel with our neighbours but didn't leave me a note.
I had to phone yodel they said who signed for it i knew form the surname which neighbour it was everything was ok, if he had just left me a card saying that then i'd of been over the moon with the serivce.

Email them, praise the service in general, just don't go into the specifics of why!
A tin of Quality Street or similar would make a nice addition to the cab of the truck.Fixed that for you...

Nope, definitely sent for before 9am - all the labels stuck on it proved that, and also proclaimed that service was guaranteed! Load of rollocks and I didn't bother claiming the cost of the service because that wasn't the point and was only a few quid anyway.Sounds like the company you purchased the ring from posted as cheap as possible rather than using a more expensive by 9am service.
