Clearly a megadickish thing for someone to say sincerely. But it's fairly clear from CarsAreBad2752's history, I would have thought, that they are probably attempting to parody some of our more "anti-speeding" posters, and suggest that maybe such posters are not always entirely comfortable with the thought of ordinary "plebs" being allowed to get behind the wheel at all. Which would certainly seem to be the case in some instances, if not others.

Wearing a bit thin now, maybe, but they're probably going to find it funny as long as people keep rising to it. On a previous thread, someone said (in capital letters, no less) that the mods should remove them for thinking "cars are bad"; do they also think the mods should remove those who, you know, actually think that? Or just the poster who's almost certainly just taking the piss out of those people?
I don't approve of banning people for opinions, even if they challenge what most people on this site feel, so long as they're willing to have a mature discussion about them. Of course, that requires both sides to be sensible.

Driving slowly on M25 from A3 towards M3 I saw my first set of these at the w/end. Damn hard to spot especially so if motoring on!

Parked next to it again yesterday so took a snap. Can you see them?!

I thought they reintroduced the legislation that said they had to be bright yellow?

There is no legislation that says they have to be yellow and never has been.

The government did say that they'd be yellow though

Another new set just before the M4 anticlock are yellow, so I guess they will do the M25/A3 ones in due course.

A there any between the M4 and the A3 in either direction yet? Haven't been round there in a while, but it is my most frequently used section.

Can I assume that these greyed out cameras are NOT actually clobbering people for a continental friendly 80mph then? Surely there would be a huge backlash if so and we would all move to France/Italy swearing like a trooper and vowing to get Cameron OUT wink

It seems at the moment, the yellow painted ones are live, they're working their way around the M25 with an aerosol at the moment.

Don't take my word for it though !

Somebody else said that, some time ago.

Which begs the question, what is the process by which cameras were painted yellow?

Back when the Gatsos either went yellow or didn't, the theory was that if a Council wished to keep the cash they went yellow whereas the Government continued to pocket the cash as before if they were battleship grey and therefore more 'covert'.

The one I spotted above is between A3 and M4 in that direction eg clockwise! On a gantry with lane camera's too though so most will slow for them unless fools!

On the M6 around the RAC Building and the M5 junction in the Midlands there are some mounted on the sides of the roadside matrix boards, so they aren't just on gantries with lane cameras.

The colour they are painted has no bearing on whether they are live or not.

On the M42 near J5 there is one in both directions.

They've been in operation on the M1 for over a year. They're not yet painted yellow.

This man speaks the truth. One near Tibshelf services spent a week flashing itself demented recently.
