Speed Camera, M25 East bound, Near Clacket Lane Services
Discussion
There was a report on LBC on Wednesday last week when they went live. The reporter was talking to drivers who had pulled into Clacket Lane services, all unaware of the camera. They also said one other motorway had also just gone live but didn't catch where it was.
No signs, no road markings, so no way to check your own speed from a camera photo?

I saw what looks to be a new HADECS3 camera double flash, when passing at 85 leptons. Pretty much impossible to spot this camera, mounted low and in grey with no road markings.
Any idea if they are live as yet, or is this a trial?
Let us know when your ticket arrives, was there a reduced speed limit in force?Any idea if they are live as yet, or is this a trial?
As I said, I see no reason why they are not set to 10% +2mph, ACPO guide lines ....
They're on a right wind up with these ones going clockwise. You come down into the managed motorway section and they stick the first few to 60mph for no reason, then they set the one with the camera on to 50mph. You can see the next one along before you get to the gantry with the camera on and they set that one to national speed limit. It was like a disco down there last week as everyone was going at 60/65 then speeding up at they go through the 50 one as they can see the next one is national speed limit.
They've got the same cameras up on the North side near the M1 too..

Been doing the same thing with the overhead ones on the M20 for months. Many a quiet clear afternoon they will all be off, except the one with the cameras on it, that will be set to 50 or 60 for no reason then back to 70 at the next gantry. Of course all there for our safety. They've got the same cameras up on the North side near the M1 too..
Odd that those rods works on the 25 there have been finished for weeks and yet they remove them the same week the new cameras go live......
I traveled along this section both ways last week for the first time since the roadworks were removed. I can echo everyone's observations that the gantry signs were showing limits between 50-70 for no apparent reasons, with most people ignoring them and carrying on at 80. Coming back I saw an X5 get flashed around Clacket Lane when going around 85.
I noticed that on the gantry signs, some of the speed limits had the digits in orange, but others were in white. What's that all about? Is one advisory and the other mandatory?
