Speed Camera, M25 East bound, Near Clacket Lane Services
Discussion
Been past Clackets a few times today, don't be anywhere near 80mph passing these cameras as the things that I see getting flashed are hardly standing out compared to the rest of the traffic.
Driving anticlockwise at 60mph I saw 5 vehicles flashed on the other side in the time that the camera was in view, someone is going to sneak up there and burn them soon

Think I may have been flashed at 4am on Friday morning going clockwise by this set of cameras. I was about the 4th in a row, I actually thought it was lightning when I saw the flashes over the brow of the hill up ahead (it was dark! - stupid, I know.). Trouble is I think they had lanes closed for no reason, but not coned off - the overhead displays suddenly showed all lanes except the outside as closed, I was confused as first time I've been down this stretch since the roadworks were remove, expecting to see physical cones and pull in signs but nothing - then I was flashed.
I'll let you know if/when the ticket arrives...

(from PH in February) "...when the new cameras do start coming online in two years' time..."
So, what are the facts? Are they still on trial or are they live?
In any case, if you've got a decent radar detector, you'll have some warning.

Actually paid attention driving the north side this morning and they've got a right mix and match going on. J29 has old ones in the gantry, J23 has the new hadecs3 ones, J22 old, J21 new.
They're all on the crossed girder type gantries that go across the road though, so just look to the left for the new ones on approach then look above through the holes for the old ones when you get closer.

So has anyone actually had a ticket from this little beauty yet? I've driven past it a few times in the last few weeks and it's been going absolutely mental each time. If it is live the sheer amount of paperwork being generated must be staggering.
The police must send you a NIP within 14 days of the offence, so wouldn't be surprised if a LOT of those flashes aren't ending up being acted upon...The camera is remotely linked to somewhere, I'm guessing the central paperwork sending out building thing. Don't see why they would have any trouble ticketing a car every 10 seconds and sending it out, how long does it take to print an A4 letter and stick it in an envelope?
These cameras might even have their own dedicated printer and envelope stuffer, would be earning enough revenue to cover the cost.

The signs don't just suddenly show a lane closure though.Trouble is I think they had lanes closed for no reason, but not coned off - the overhead displays suddenly showed all lanes except the outside as closed, I was confused as first time I've been down this stretch since the roadworks were remove, expecting to see physical cones and pull in signs but nothing - then I was flashed.
There are speed limit signs and then divert arrows followed by the x sign.
So you must have missed all them first.
Also you should be moving over way before you see the cones anyway.
So sorry that's just poor.

Whilst sometimes I'll query the strange limits, never second guess the red X's.
