The signs don't just suddenly show a lane closure though.
There are speed limit signs and then divert arrows followed by the x sign.
So you must have missed all them first.
Also you should be moving over way before you see the cones anyway.
So sorry that's just poor.
Of course I should have attempted to move in immediately but I guarantee you that from where I joined (M26 junction) the first signs I saw were the X signs (on the inside lanes that I was using after merging...) - no limits, no divert arrows and the road was otherwise completely empty and free from obstruction from where I joined it (and all the way through the closure as it transpired). There are speed limit signs and then divert arrows followed by the x sign.

I should have reacted quicker, lambast me for that and I'll take it on the chin but please don't assume detail that you weren't party to.
I think I may have been flashed clockwise, just before Clacket Lane, 12.30pm, May 5th bank holiday. Over 3 weeks now & nothing in the post. Was riding my bike in lane 2 behind a 5 series BMW. Relatively light traffic, so either the camera was being tested/commissioned/calibrated, or someone in lane 3 or 4 got done. I think I was doing about 75 (indicated), so would find it quite sad if I got a ticket....
Has anybody got a NIP from this stretch of 'smart' motorway yet???

Hi!
Well I have been watching these cameras with great interest since they were first put up during the removal of the hard shoulder on the M25 around Clacket lane.
True enough, the cameras on the Kent side of Clacket lane have been flashing away at cars like a mobile disco!! I actually contacted the highways agency pointing out the distraction hazard that the flashes were causing. Plus - I take exception to being flashed at when driving within the bounds of the law!!
Low and behold two days later at about 08:30 there was a collision involving multiple vehicles traveling anticlockwise at that exact same spot !! Coincidence?
I did get a reply from the Highways agency saying that the "new equipment" required adjusting and that there are safe guards within the system that ensure offences will only be recorded if it deems itself to be working correctly. Apparently its all sorted now so no more random disco lights....
I haven't seen any activity from the cameras mounted at the side of the gantry on the Surrey side. Perhaps Kent authorities are more eager to start collecting the revenue??

I got flashed there this arvo heading for Folkstone.
Just left Clacket Lane services and the flash was just before the M26.
Trailing the new Speedwatch app for my iPhone. It said variable limit camera (there was no variable in force) but the gantry was clear of camera boxes.
There was a flash or two from a skinny looking grey pole thing on the side of the road.
I was doing 87, roof down in our classic Alfa Spider.
Are the live? Got clean license so will have to suck it up!
