NW, not much I can add from a legal point of view, but do want to give you a pat on the back for taking care of Mrs NW even though half the time you are away from home, I have no doubt this whole saga has been wearing for you as well.

Seems to be crappy situation all round, and I can appreciate that Mrs NW wants justice, and her name cleared, but after that, as others have mentioned, it must be time for her to take her considerable skills elsewhere, even at a salary drop so as not to further impact her health.

Also, a hat tip to Breadvan, who has been a great source of information and all round good guy.

Best of luck for Friday.

Quick update

"Investigative meeting" is scheduled for 10am this Friday, Mrs NW to be accompanied by Union rep.

Expectation is low!
If things are said which are disagreed with, minute those disagreements and then have someone from the Respondent sign the notes as a true reflection of what was said/agreed.

When was this scheduled? You should have all the evidence against her with plenty of time to read and prepare before any hearing. For example I'd expect to see their evidence that your wife was at work on the day in question.

I would imagine minutes are being taken anyway, but if not, you should be able to advise your wife to have a recording device in there too. The person I know did that and I reckon that'd be worth while doing too.

Good luck!

OP I feel for you.

My wife was a Hospital Consultant who was sacked after going to the CQC with Patient Safety concerns. The battle is very difficult.

This may sound like a cop out, but unless your wife is absolutely determined to stay in the job, I would get the best settlement, a reference, and a pair of roller skates.

We made the mistake of imagining that justice might prevail. Not so far it hasn't, nobody gives a st.

It doesn't matter if you hold all the cards if who you are playing doesn't know the rules let alone plays by them.

I know that which is where the law comes in to play and she "should" get a pay out "maybe" and a cleared name?

Lets not forget they are accusing her of theft when she wasn't even on the premises.

Did you lodge a whistleblowing claim?

I think there is an NHS Whistleblowers group on linkedin too....

As above OP, you may wish to consider entering into Without Prejudice negotiations to leave with a payout in due course.

I tried it for a while, but arguing with Andy is like playing chess with a small child who doesn't know the rules.

Expectation of anything positive from the initial meeting. Long-term I am very positive about her chances.

We did get all the "evidence". Statements from 2 people that were certainly made in isolation as they do not correlate. They are investigating theft of £920. When Mrs NW returned to work she actually found £600+ because her "manager" had made a basic bookkeeping error. The accusation is factually incorrect. The list goes on. I just wish I could be there as I rather enjoy playing cards with a fistful of aces!!

I have to say this echoes what I have seen in the public sector.

Seems to me that the "manager" is the one on the take, or very bad at accounting, not Mrs NW

Good luck, and if they screw her, take em to tribual, you'll have a field day with this.
