Making a game out of it is way more fun that getting annoyed. Mess with them, keep them on hold etc. The inside of my coffee table drawer gets talked to a lot by call centres. The more of their time people waste, the less profitable the whole industry will be.

Leaving the phone handset in the bass port of a monitor is my favourite nuisance-call diversion.

Since retiring I have been plagued with cold calls some silent from various businesses.

I have done the TPS thing, but they get around that by being a survey etc.

Any way I have found after some research, been able to find the home phone numbers of the directors of some of the businesses involved.
Can I publish these numbers on line to people who have complained about these numbers? Would this be unlawful the idea is to ask the director to take numbers off the lists.
Register his number with a load of dodgy websites or scribble it on the bog walls in a few places offering a 'good time'. Infantile yes but probably better than wasting your energy on anything sensible

I had a new one earlier today though on my mobile:
"This is the Hearing Clinic calling about damage to your hearing from working in industry."
"I've never worked in industry."
"Sorry to have troubled you...."

What were they hoping to achieve?

TPS and an ex-directory number seem to work well on our landline, we only get one or two nuisance calls a month.
"WHAT? HELLO?"

When you get a automated call and it askes you to press 5 to unsubscribe, should you press it?
Does this just show them that its an active number with a living person on the end, they can then sell it on to others.

my father in law was a master at this, he tried to keep them on the phone for at least 30 mins before saying no thank you, even longer if the cricket was on

Surely now that you've retired you've got nothing better to do anyway? I thought you'd be happy at having someone to talk to... Unless the calls are disturbing you whilst you're making your Bovril?
How rude (I bet you are a cold caller or work in Mc Donald’s, or something like that With a name like that I bet you sell Cillit Bang) – Bang! And the dirt is gone!

Ill have you know that although I am in my 90s I can still pull the chicks and perform every sex act in the Karma Sutra plus some of my own.
The only complaints I have had is that, their worn out and want a lay down in a dark room.
Even manage 3s up but only about an Hour or 2.

My Morris Marina (1.8TC) has been tuned by speedwell to over 85 HP (that’s the power output Mr Barry, obviously you know nothing about cars otherwise you wouldn’t have bought an unreliable German car)on second thoughts its probably your |Nans.
This car regularly laps Goodwood in under 2 minutes and reaches 87 MPH down Lavant.

I can still have a rear up, Got thrown out of the Legion for cheating at Bingo last week.
(Used to be a really well built MD in my time)

As for Bovril Mr smart ar-se, I could drink you under the table any time (Had a whole bottle of amontillado ( that’s strong stuff Mr Barry don’t suppose your allowed in pubs yet are you ) last night, and never spilt a drop down my cardigan).

Huh not’s so cocky now are you Mr Barry?

Any way cold callers are scum and the people who pay their wages should be bought to account if its ok, for their minions to call me at random it must be ok for me to phone them so, that’s what I am going to do.

Do yours actually work?

I had a set of four. They blocked the withheld, international and unavailable numbers fine but every time they blocked one, the handsets stopped ringing and illuminating until I powered them down and switched each one on again.

I took them back after about six months and Argos swapped them for a new set.

The new set have the same problem.

Then go on http://directors.findthebest.co.uk/ put in company name and find directors.

Then on 192 .com and find address of Director.

Or good old BT directory and find the directors home number and ask them to be removed from list simples

Proves he's really a pensioner - easily conned. (Plus he only said tuned by speedwell, not well tuned).

Anyway, he doesn't have to worry about having anyone to talk to - every wednesday, down the post office, collect the pension, tell the same stories while the queue grows...... smile

TPS are an absolute joke! They are funded by the pest callers! The 5th call to my mobile by this cold calling outfit and in Teh middle of a days work was recorded (stating stroppily that NO they wouldn't remove my number as the previous 4 callers falsely promised) and reported to TPS. I gave them full company name on this witheld number and a quick google shows the name of the director etc... Their pathetic TPS response was:

Despite our best efforts TPS has not been able to ascertain valid contact and/or address details to raise this particular complaint.

Although we have been unable to raise this complaint against the offending company we have logged and will include details of this complaint in our regular report sent to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) who are the government body responsible for enforcing the Privacy and Electronic (EC Directive) Communications Regulations 2003.

This will enable them to look at trends in complaints being made and where possible identify those organisations who are not complying with the regulations surrounding such calls. To complain about an unsolicited call made to a number registered with TPS please provide us with details of the call by completing a complaint form or by logging a complaint online at www.tpsonline.org.uk .

The least information required for us to be able to process a complaint will be the company name and/or telephone number and the date & time of the call with an explanation of the element of direct marketing involved in the call. Any additional information i.e. name of caller, company address will help us investigate the complaint.#
