Local Nutter. When do BiB stop acting on complaints.

My ex and three neighbours are being subjected to multiple complaints from a local nutter and serial reporter of everything to the Police. Sad thing is Police visit the house and investigate every complaint inspite of admitting they are sure there is nothing untoward going on. Worse still the neighbours were visited by a senior officer and sergeant and had to provide witness statements as part of an investigation of officers who had been subject to complaints from the nutter that they hadn't acted on her complaints.

Surely plod has a "Nutter Ignore" file for people like this and will eventually pepper spray and beat fk out of the nuisance for being a pest.

I guess the police tend to respond to calls where failure to do so will result in an official complaint, however trivial?

The police should have a premium-rate "special, direct, phoneline for really critical calls" that they can give people like this the number of. Goes to an answering machine that makes soothing assurances that they're coming right round immediately to get the bds, and costs £5 a minute.

Yes. Also, if that person has mental health issues, there is often a higher chance that they will actually do something that warrants the polices attention.

This. Have one of the neighbours and/or your ex drop into local police station and advise the desk officer that you are considering making a formal complaint of harassment against them. Explain the "nutter content" and that perhaps they should balance the calls against other issues they have to deal with. If they fail to act within a defined period of time (agree this during the visit) then make a formal complaint and ask to speak to the senior officer at the station to make this.

Mental health problems seem to consume a disproportionate amount of police time. Difficult to resolve satisfactorily

Eventually people can end up being arrested for wasting police time getting an ASBO for similar. The police can be a bit quick with mental health (assuming the neighbour has an issue / issues) to assume that because someone has issues, they can't be dealt with criminally. When in more cases than not (especially mental health in the community, they can).

Reverse the complaints as a joint letter from all three neighbours to local Local Neighbourhood team Inspector. You'll find him / her online. Is is privately owned? If not consider the Local Authority, too. Or the landlord if private.

I mentioned on another post I'd found guidelines for local councils on nuisance/ anti social behaviour from private tenants.I'd expect that if council property then council can act .
Try the council site under anti social and see what comes up .However ,IANAL , just someone who's helped turn one Beruit style road into somewhere decent to live, with the help of neighbours/ council officials etc.
