Few things get me riled, self scanning people who fart about are one of them.
Compared to the old biddy paying £25 in pennies at the regular checkout, having spent half an hour to locate her purse at the bottom of her push along trolley, which needed all the shopping removed to get at it, I'll take the self serve anytime.TBH if you only have a few items it's quicker to go to the cigarette kiosk.
I hate supermarkets so I like to be in and out as quickly as possible.

Don't know, in my guilt I shoved it into the machine and I'm not brave enough to try it again, though that said I have a couple of these vouchers (we've had a big mail shot of samples with the coupons) and they are all the same with the same barcode so I don't see why it wouldn't work repeatedly.
I presume the slots to dispose of the vouchers are to put people off reusing them without any actual technical blockage to doing so, if you're inclined to be dishonest.Considering the points and their origins will be stored centrally somewhere, that I suspect the software will spot suspicious patterns and the low value of the coupons, it would be a pretty stupid type of theft.
For some reason, my work computer has logged in as an old account, but I can promise you its not bks even been discussed before!

It deducts the discounts / offers when you click finish. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

No, it really is bks.http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I've used self-service at Tesco, ASDA and Waitrose. On each occasion the "end total" does NOT take into account discounts, multibuys etc UNTIL you choose the method of payment / click finish, then the discounts are applied.
I spend a lot of time trying to make sure that everything goes "bip" before I put it into the bag. For this reason the f***er almost invariably moans about the bagging area..... This then means some poor sod has to come along and give me the tragic knowing look.... Before releasing the machine to continue harassing me.....
If I have a few items, then ok, but once you get to half a dozen or more, it's a cashier for me..

I love the idea that the big supermarkets could be getting away with skimming multibuy discounts in this day and age without it being common knowledge (and an outrage)
Yeah, millions of shoppers every week and nobody has cottoned on to this scam, except for a select few PH'ers of superior intellect who will argue till they're red in the face that they're right and rather than take anyone elses word for it and check for themselves they'll continue in their ways of adding hoops to jump through by clicking 'back' everytime before selecting the payment method. But when your in the 'fag' line, you have to put up with the dirty smokers smell.....TBH if you only have a few items it's quicker to go to the cigarette kiosk.

That spoils the game where the shopper consistently beats the speed at which the device works so you cut it off mid sentence. Though that does seem to confuse the worst designs. Morrisons looking at you numpties.
Morrisons have by far and away the worst self scanning machines closely followed by the ones in B&Q, Sainbsurys seem to have the easiest and quickest ones to use.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
