Heavy tints at the rear of a car are a hazard - they prevent the following car being able to see through your car to the one in front.
The driver of car behind shouldn't be basing their driving on behaviour of a car ahead of the one directly behind. Anyway if they are genuinely that close behinds they need to worry about rear ending the car ahead and learn to drive properly.

Tinting the rear glass is legal move on, accept this and learn to drive properly.

There are many cars with highly tinted rear glass that have been built that way by the original manufacture, 70% and even 95% rear tints are very common on newer cars.

A competent driver uses all sources of information available. Taking one away reduces the information available.

Yes. Ban trucks, vans, caravans and full boots. rolleyes

A competent driver accepts that the roads may include other non-transparent traffic and deals with it.

I think we can accept that a truck is not transparent. I think we can accept that a car, with glass windows, can be.

If you need to see through the rear and front screens of the car in front, you are without a doubt following too closely.

Yes, Bananas are a great source of potassium. At least we agree on something.

Can be - doesn't have to be.

I am under no obligation to keep the boot of my car empty because you can't drive.

Not that will worry the typical arsewipe who have them fitted, but there you go.

Well I think they should ban dark coloured cars because they're difficult to see at night, and white ones because of fog.

Honestly, if the UK could channel the passion that some people will put into argue trivial cases into something useful it'd be great. Live and let live people.

Genius idea. So am I now.

If I add a dash of Worcestershire sauce, would that imply a tint?

biggrin Bloody nice though, isn't it? I couldn't decide between boggo HP and Worcestershire and in the end went for comfort and hoiked a massive dollop of HP on it. Feckin' gorgeous.

I love the way that the answer to the OP's post was written in the fourth post of this thread and now four pages later we are discussing cheese on toast.
