Police Scotland - Officers routinely carrying guns.
Discussion
Theresa May was on TV this morning spouting utter lies about the capability of armed Police and the 'investment' she claims to have put into the area. It was only last week she was proudly crowing how she was going to remove armed police from Police Forces altogether. She is an utter snake.
The general public don't really give a monkeys about Armed Officers attending incidents. It's only the usual suspects and so called 'journalists' who get outraged about a Police Officer with a sidearm buying a sandwich.

If anyone has any doubt about the rubbish this thread was based upon: http://www.scotland.police.uk/about-us/police-scot...
Because the armed police in Paris proved so effective at preventing the attacks?
Unless you plan to have armed police standing on every street corner or in every public venue then I don't see how this would stop it happening here. I have no problem seeing armed police but they are not a panacea for all the terrorist ills, not would they prevent it happening. They, just might, stop it getting worse, however, Police armed with 9mm pistols vs mad men with assault rifles, grenades and suicide bombs isn't going to be pretty.

Well, to revive a slightly aged thread - I pass through Edinburgh airport at least once a week. Only once, immediately after the Manchester bombing, have I seen armed police. I do see unarmed police in the airport regularly.
I find this completely bemusing. Only 275 armed police in all of Scotland. At any given time, most will be asleep, on holiday, off duty, in a station or otherwise unavailable.
What are the unarmed police going to do if somebody turns up at Edinburgh airport and goes berserker? Or if somebody goes berserker in some remote village?

Armed police are at Edinburgh, and Glasgow, nearly 24/7. Probably either on break, in their car or at the other end of the terminal when you've passed through. They do have some unarmed police stationed there too.I find this completely bemusing. Only 275 armed police in all of Scotland. You could ask the same question about any public place... shopping centre, railway station, cinema, school... typically outside central London armed police would not arrive in time to stop anything happening.I find this completely bemusing.
