So what would/could actually happen if he took that film to a lawyer?

Would the police lady face the sack? Or dicipline?

What she did was against police regulations, but was it illegal, did she break the law and if so what charge could she face?

Would the bloke be looking at compo?

Also, would a court/disciplinary panel take the earlier filmed incident into account? Or would what the police woman did be judged in isolation? Bear in mind she was acting on a complaint and had not seen the previous footage.

If it's anything, it's a simple civil trespass that lasted for a short duration. It'd probably attract words of advice at best.

No idea if the organisation would have any liability for compensation etc.

Don't police officers smell smoke these days?

Quick question regarding camera vans, would there be an offence for standing with an umbrella infront of the camera van or park a van in front of it? wink

Would it make a difference if it was an unmarked van or indeed a council run van?

Except the male officer, I would argue.

He backed up his idiot colleague instead of quietly leading her away.

More to the point, he got involved in something he should have gone nowhere near in the first place.

As I said, they all came out of it badly.

I would imagine he had to go near it. I hardly think he leapt at that call when it came in.

I can see how that would be the case.

Because when calls come in, someone has to attend and deal. You don't get many brownie points for refusing to go to calls.

I'll accept you have to turn up at his door for a quiet word.

I don't accept that you have to support colleagues being stupid.

I'd have thought this was back to the nick job to get the ins and outs rather than anover the airwaves assignment - so thyey'd have known what they were going to and their powers

Maybe, maybe not. But a half decent cop wouldn't need to go back to the nick to read up on their powers of entry for a borderline public order offence.

I'd have gone back in to get the ins and outs - otherwise what would have been passed over the radio - 'Go to so and so addresswws - registered keeper of abc123 has been abusive towards a camera operator - warn him re future behaviour. Even with a mobile data log - i'd still want to know exactly what happened just in case he needed nicking. No powers of entry
for public order as I recall - Except S.4

Mate of mine helped develop and introduce it into my lot - super fast, 9hr battery life ( no need for running engines all night) and 97% coverage. Itll stream the BBC news quite happily apparently.
