unfortunately i think someone LBC may have got it. i didnt just pass them gates 3 seconds a day i was stationed at the camp on the left and know no one uses the crash gates and have never seen anyone use the dirt track or farm entrance but as you say this time someone did. and i am not disputing that all i was saying as in my previous post that had turn signals been used i would not have made the pass.

Sympathy from me has gone, that's a ridiculous place to attempt an overtake. Sorry OP, you're on a hiding to nothing here.

funnily i wasnt hit by a farm vehicle, id have been on the look out for them wink
Farm vehicle does not have to be a tractor.

It could be the pizza delivery bike, or a farm visitor driving a sports car.

That's not a "hatched area", in my book, that's a ghost island.

I've always been taught this rule:

Never, ever, overtake on a ghost island.

on the course thats what they referred to them as aswel 'ghost islands' but that a broken white line is to be treated like a white line down the road and a solid white line the same as a solid white line down the road

You might treat them like that, but they are different things with different meanings/purposes.

I sometimes enter the hatched boxes you speak of, but I wouldn't go into that one.

I've ridden that road probably 50 times and the area outside Scampton has too much going on to be overtaking like that.

There's a nice straight just around the next bend.

Unlucky on this one but I think its one to learn from.
