Hi all

Drove on this road for the first time. After exiting Thrapston (40mph) the road goes NSL about 50m after a roundabout and then another 100m down the road is a truvelo camera.

Is it looking at the 40 or the 60? Place bets now..

Correct.

More importantly, the tea shack in the lay-by just before the camera serve the most amazing sausages.

Big succulent and wonderful, they have them made to their own recipe by a local butcher. Yummy.

I pass that camera every day on my commute, it does seem to confuse a few people.

As the OP rectified in his first post.

Wouldn't have mentioned it, but for the fact you haven't tried the sausages smile

Why would you think it's enforcing the 40mph limit?
Btw I will stop and try the sausages.

From the streetmap photo ,I'd agree on the NSL.I notice it's on a nice passing place straight ( or is that sited to make most cash rolleyes). I used to find that the reps were more of a problem on the 605. On the A14, up the exhaust pipe in a rush to get past. On the 605, their natural instinct to overtake is cancelled out by cameras and two way traffic. Personally ,I prefer to carry on to the A1 junction and turn left. Autoroute tellsme it add about 10 mile ,and six minutes. The time difference is doubtful ,but the reduction in stress dealing with no real gap between traffic to allow for overtaking a car at a time due to the speed of the leader makes the extra well worth whle.

I've made a pass or 2 there before, bit disconcerting making an overtake towards a speed camera but many HGV's still going very slow getting back up to speed there making it easy enough. I have considered using the A1 but an extra 10 miles a day each way adds up. For a one off journey now and then it's probably the better route though.

It's an extra 10 miles ,but at a constant speed, no changing down/up, getting back to speed to brake when some idiot sees a speed camera. SO, question is , it's a smoother constant drive, so possibly the extra 10 miles is at higher MPG.

I actually achieve very good mpg figures on the 605, leaving a decent sized gap to the car in front means no braking for roundabouts and such, average speed tends to be 40ish for the most part.
