I've fitted some sun shades on the Evo and the rear window one goes between the glass and brake light. You can still see the light (when it's on) through the shade but just wondering if it's classed as obscured and illegal?

Thanks

Providing you have the normal 2 brake lights in either light cluster, the high level one is just an accessory.

Really? I was under the impression that if [b]any[/] fitted brake light doesn't work then it's an MOT failure (unlike only needing 2 mirrors, as long as one of them is the driver's wing mirror), so surely this would be the same as deliberately obscuring one of the other brake lights?

Whether or not you would get pulled for it is a different matter.

Additional stop lamps fitted and connected must be tested. Where extra lamps are fitted and there is doubt as to whether they are connected, the benefit of this doubt should be given to the presenter.
Disconnect it, pass. Saying it's disconnected should be sufficient due to the benefit of doubt favouring the presenter.

Is that additional to factory-fitted lamps or just additional to the usual two though?

Additional to the mandatory two, for modern cars that need two i.e. post-Jan 71.
