I'm presuming that it's the 50mph stretch between Bredbury and Stockport - a notorious section where a number of accidents have occurred in the past. IMO the average speed cameras there are justified, and anyone getting ticketed deserves it.

It's not so much the limit going around the sharp bend with narrow lanes which irks people, it's the limit on the wide, straight section for the best part of a mile before the bend.
