I would take the case pro bono.
I will be interested to see what the SRA does about this guy's (apparent) Walter Mitty tendencies - but I do agree that is what is more concerning is the possibility that any of his clients have been prejudiced by poor advice and/or representation.
How difficult is it to secure Higher Rights of audience? I've never done enough advocacy to make it worthwhile pursuing (plus I'm generally happy to limit myself to a few outings each year for chambers applications, and instruct counsel on anything more complex!) so I'm not clear on how demanding Higher Rights accreditation is.
If (and this remains an if) Blacker was not properly qualified to take the case, then the Defendant has a ground of appeal, as he did not receive a fair trial. I assume that the SRA will scrutinise whether the qualifications on which he was admitted as a solicitor were valid. Even if they were, his other false claims about degrees, honours and such may have placed him in breach of the Code of Conduct, but that would not invalidate the trial.
agtlaw, you are a good egg, but I suppose that pro bono is apt here because the guy may have been let down by someone who may (I say may) be improperly qualified to be a lawyer, rather than because the case has conspicuous merit.

Then do it, surely it'll help the guy out. I've put my money where my mouth is on the 79mph issue.
Mine is a serious and genuine offer but there are rules about not contacting someone who is represented. Of course, if someone knows the Wojcicki family and is able to pass on my details then that's another thing entirely. LL, I obtained solicitor Higher Rights a while ago - I did the BVC so it was a relatively painless experience involving a portfolio assessment. In other news, as of today I am practising as a barrister.
Lord Blackguard claims that he obtained higher rights from attending a course at Kaplan Altior (in Cardiff?). I wasn't even aware of this method until I started looking at his background.
