As many You Tube commenters observed, incredibly lenient treatment - especially over his use of blue lights in front of the Police.....

Don't happen to have the reg do you? Quick check on the tax website would show if it's ambulance police or PLG...

Or WALT ...... which sounds likely.

Ambulance staff do not enforce speed limits. They know better.

Bonkers - he got fined a total of £150. The fixed penalty alone for no insurance is £200.

Wonder why they didn't charge him with theft of the jackets?

Maybe he didn't nick them, several places to go to get secondhand uniforms and medical equipment. Scary when you think about it.

Sorry, no, but I do see him fairly regularly, so will keep an eye out.

Sure, but what are the chances he bought them (and the cut out badges etc)?

Too much trouble for the Police, I guess, yet they'll sometimes go to the ends of the earth to nail a speeding conviction. That guy struck me as dangerous, he'd been spoken to before and he should have been much more firmly dealt with.

This.

Guy strikes me as nut-job, rapist in the making type who would have benefited from much stiffer treatment.

I'd report it to the police 101 number.

They also said that he must not use his blue lights again. So, having them on the car able to be switched on, and all the battenburg and "Ambulance" labels are OK?

And what is it about people who are knowingly breaking the law (driving on a provisional licence) deliberately drawing attention to themselves?

So you'd have a cop tied up for hours, trying to find out where the hell some low value, second hand jackets and badges came from, the end result of which could well be that they were in fact never stolen, there is no IP, no offences, and NFPA?
Sounds like a good use of resources to me.

Brilliant. There are some incredible people out there living their fantasy. Loved the comment under the Youtube clip " He got six points on his provisional?!a paltry fine and that was it?no insurance never mind the fact that he was trying to impersonate a member of the emergency services which in my eyes was not dealt with at all.Was the fking judge in fancy dress too??

Ha ha.

Is there not a blatant offence of using the blue lights?

He could be charged with stealing the property of persons unknown.

His actions as a wannabe paramedic are potentially life-threatening, not to mention the separate issue of him driving on a provisional and uninsured. Never mind the obstruction allegation.

He should have had the book thrown at him. Or at least been sectioned - he sounded properly bonkers.

Your post suggested you were referring to the badges.
There is an offence of impersonating a police officer. There are other offences of impersonating an emergency services personnel. Perhaps the police decided there wasn't sufficient to run with one of these. Perhaps you can't see all the clip, and it's edited?

hmmm. Pretty sure you can understand why us MOPs give the Police a hard time sometimes?

To any normal layperson there is plenty to go on.

It's not quite as simple as just charging somebody.

As for the rest, I can't view the video for some reason, but I recall seeing it some time ago.

If the job was simple, anybody could do it.

Not sure what you are referring to here.
