Why not an aircraft carrier 500 miles off the coast of somewhere surrounded by battleships? Much safer for the attendees, much less disruption for us and much less expense to the taxpayer.
Because we scrapped ours, before we'd built the new one...

There are, saw it in a real life fly on the wall documentary where one man stopped some estate agents nicking the missiles.

Security for the summit will be provided by 9,500 police officers drawn from 43 UK police forces with 12 miles of security fencing already in place at keys sites in Cardiff and Newport.

9500! That'll be a lot of accommodation and overtime! The costs must be HUGE!

It must suck to be a world leader, all that security because people may want to possibly kill you a bit. Not being able to go anywhere without armed guards watching your every move.

And to top it off they send you to Cardiff. rofl
Daughter is off to Cardiff in a couple of weeks to start an MPharm course. If I could pay for an armed guard watching her every move, I would.

imagine the cost. Ridiculous. Stick 'em on an oil rig. Or fly them to the falkland islands if they want some space.

There was also a pretty severe accident this morning involving an SLK. Debris was scattered across the entire bridge. This meant that today there were more police than usual, although there are many anyway.

Didn't realise what it was for when I saw the fence on the hard shoulder of the M4 the other week thought it was roadworks
Not till last week and coming off at the Celtic Manor Junction heading to Birmingham did I realise how massive the fence is and what its for
All metal, bottom 4ft like a concrete Central reservation barrier with 8ft ish of fence on top
the entire thing bolted down to the motorway /road

Sad times when we need to have fences to stop (I would presume) car bombs etc?

It's a crazy world.

It is a good question why they don't hold it on an existing military base given the security is going to be pretty good already?

Anyone caught speeding heading into Wales must be either:

1. Welsh
2. A sheep.
3. Lost.

or, and this only applies if you are a true petrolhead.

4. Have a proper car and are heading to the Evo Triangle...
