i was going to join the M1 going south towards the M25. Theres 4 lanes of motorway traffic and 3 Lanes to the left which either stay on the A404 i believe and the others join the M1 and i dont know it is was just coincidence or if it was me that set it off but the gantry speed camera went off.

The lanes leading to the M1 are 50MPH the M1 was still NSL and im looked to my right as it happened but there was definitely a speeding car on the motorway but i was also exceeding what i was suppose to be doing at that time. Theres only one camera but its one of those dreaded HADEC ones so im wondering if it were able to get me on the left and be able to catch me at a different speed limit, i wasnt exceeding the NSL so i dont know what it is set at.

Im fairly sure im safe as ive seen people blasting 100+ down there before to join the M1 just wondering if anyone else has done this or even heard anything from it

the 14 day countdown starts now

More to the point - joining M1 Northbound from the A414, there are no NSL signs. As the OP suggests the A414 slips are 50mph, but nowhere are there any NSL signs as one joins the M1.

It is by no means the only such instance. Here is another (from a 30).
I suspect the use of Diagram 2901 which denotes the start of motorway regulations is deemed sufficient.
Several elements of TSRGD don't apply to such Special Roads.
