Agreed - can only assume he was waiting to sort out his exit strategy, golden parachute, whatever it's called these days. I could have practically written his resignation myself before reading the article... "don't want to be a distraction blah blah"

"This is detracting from the important issue, which should be everybody's focus - the 1,400 victims outlined in the report - and in providing support to victims and bringing to justice the criminals responsible for the atrocious crimes committed against them."

Shame he didn't support the victims and bring the criminals to justice years ago.

Who funnily enough have no problem getting employed with records which would see the average Joe unable to get an interview anywhere else (other than maybe McDonalds)

As a general rule in life, I'd say that anyone who Keith Vaz finds to be a disgrace can't be all bad.

If this is true he sounds like a tool of the highest order:

https://rotherhampolitics.wordpress.com/2012/10/11...

Did I see some comment on PH linking a Rotherham councillor to 5000 postal votes? That councillor could be a useful contact for those thinking of standing for the now vacant position of PCC for South Yorkshire police.

I thought PCCs were supposed to deliver greater accountability and transparency to the public? Surely his record from when he was a councillor disqualified him for consideration for the PCC role?

He should be sharing a G4S prison van with Mereddyd Hughes, after the due judicial process of course.

I wouldn't worry too much. Hardly anyone voted for him after all.

I used to think the same about Vaz, but over the last years or so he's gone up in my estimation, not suffering fools gladly.

I currently find him less objectionable than Margaret Hodge.

He told former Chief Constable Mereddyd Hughes that what he wasn't a credible witness last week. It's difficult to quibble with that. I guess he couldn't afford the drama coaches that advised Oscar Pistorius, or they were otherwise engaged.

Who knows a few more televised telling offs like that and perhaps some police officers will realise that putting a police sticker on BS doesn't stop something being BS?

Remind me what it was that Holier than Thou Keith Vaz got done for a few years back?

Was it cash for questions, or expenses? I simply cannot remember.

Vaz has form, but this clown Wright was a Magistrate. It's all just varying degrees of corruption and muppetry. I've seen Vaz on TV shaking the hands of a few immigrants. As of yet I am not aware of him covering up the sexual exploitation of vulnerable children over several years.

Dominic Grieve the former Attorney General made some possibly ill judged comment about some demographics may be more prone to corruption than others. While the child rapists may have a certain race or demographic, some of those that have sought to keep those crimes hidden don't adhere to that race or demographic, unless we're counting the scumbag politician demographic.

He was involved in the Hinduja brothers passport affair - tried to hurry along their passport application, failed to disclose some hospitality he had received from from the Hinduja's in the House of Commons register and generally obstructed the inquiry into his conduct all of which resulted in him being sacked as a Minister.

It later emerged that during the inquiry one of his staff made a complaint that he was employing an illegal immigrant as his nanny. The member of staff made their complaint through a friend who was a retired Police Officer. Vaz then made some false allegations of harassment against the Police Officer. For this he was suspended from the House of Commons.

He always reminds me of Ali Dizaei. Publicly lauded as an example of multiculturalism but privately regarded by anyone who meets them as "a bit dodgy".

And are we likely to see him launch a claim for constructive dismissal given the "pressure" he was under to resign?

Totally. His Select Committee appearances would be laughable if they weren't so serious. His constant demands that people appear 'before him' are a joke. He seems to think he's the Emperor of the UK.

At least we get to spend £4 million on a new election so 63 people can vote.

No. Constructive dismissal is a concept that relates to contracts of employment, not to elected public offices.

The irony of Vaz giving his interrogatees the third degree isn't lost on too many I wouldn't think.......
