Let me elaborate further for you dear.
>I'm considering doing something I know is illegal because it will make my car look cool and yolo swag jdm as f**k
>will I be in trouble for doing something illegal?
"it looks cool" should never be the reason for anything ever.
What a Tosser you are>I'm considering doing something I know is illegal because it will make my car look cool and yolo swag jdm as f**k

IF the vinyl backing is retro-reflective (which is possible to get)
IF the font/spacing/size is correct
IF it is marked with the BE EN number and manufacturer details
IF it it located appropriately on the vehicle conforming to the Display Of Registration Marks
Then there is no reason a stick-on plate cannot be used legally.

I put a stickon plate on the bonnet of our offroader after breaking the numberplate multiple times.
Just used to keep the broken one in the boot to show that I am not taking the p1ss, and that im trying to stay as legal as I can given that the front plate was easily damaged and broken.
Never had an issue in 4 years of driving with it .. and saved a fortune on replacement plates.
I did the same with a Discovery I had years ago, for the same reason. Same result too.Just used to keep the broken one in the boot to show that I am not taking the p1ss, and that im trying to stay as legal as I can given that the front plate was easily damaged and broken.

All in the name of better engine cooling efficiency and weight saving.
That's better
To be fair, there's a Mk1 MX-5 on my street and whenever I turn into the road (if it's facing the right way) I think how awful it looks, so certainly some cars can benefit from it. I think the angle of it is one of the factors they're a bit stricter on. I can't really imagine how it is on an RX-8 though, have never thought the plate looked awkward on them.
Furthermore if you have to ask if something will get you into trouble before you do it? Not cool.
Sorry OP.

oof, fair point, but I never claimed I was cool and I stand by my statement that true cool is effortless, you don't buy clothes thinking "this'll make me look cool", more "I like this" and the clothes look cool because you are wearing them and because of how you wear them, provided a car isn't an ugly pos like an Aztec or a Q7, if you're cool, you can pull it off.Occupation: powertrain engineer

Indeed that is much better. You make so much more sense when you reply with words of wisdom instead of acronyms and sarcasm. However I'm afraid you assumed way too much from my original post, which simply concerned the legalities and consequences of vinyl plates. PH is definitely not a place I would ever seek style or coolness advice from.
