Got home last night to my first speeding ticket in 28 years of driving. 79mph in a 70 limit on the M4 near Bridgend.

So apparently I am to donate £85 to the South Wales Police benevolent fund, which in fairness seems a reasonable exchange for the preceding 28 years and 100's of 1000's of miles of (possibly) slightly brisk motorway driving...not a bad rate of return all things considered biggrin

Just thought I'd share.

I thought the fixed penalty was £100 and 3 points these days?

You're not doing this correctly

You've got to explain that it was a clear road with little traffic and therefore it was perfectly OK to speed. Then you've subsequently examined the NIP and discovered liberal and wrong use of of apostrophes and can you get off?

Fantastic. This meets the criteria. I should actually say that the deal is for points and a fine, rather than the SAC cost, but I'll pay either if the OP scans and posts the NIP on here today and then sends the original in the post, as Photoshop is just too easy nowadays. PM me for my address.

Not sure what's to laugh at. The OP proves the 79mph punishment and I pay it. Assuming that it was a 70 limit there and not in roadworks with a temporary or permanent speed limit below 70.

I will be amazed if the OP has been done, 3 points and £100 fine, doing 79 in a 70. Not amazed enough to offer to pay it, but amazed anyway.

My lucky day: Heres a photo of the original (name and VRM edited out for internet purposes)

And as this was in Walesshire here is the welsh language version you also get:

The original has now gone back to the lovely people at the camera unit for their perusal but I have copied it.
Feel free to contact me in order to send me the £85 payment for the SAC I shall be opting for biggrin

You never go down the hill and around the bend at speed between 33 and 34. The van's always there on the left hand side of the bridge, just out of view until the last minute.

I get off at 34, so normally pootle along that section, ready for the slip road.

Surely the op will be offered speed awareness course (bit like being told to sit on the naughty chair).
