They'd stop in the middle of the road when there was about 10 foot of space at the side they could have pulled into,
Very much this. The video posted shows a few examples of it as well.
I'll happily wait for them to do what they need to do... but when there's plenty of space for them to park considerately then frankly they should be run over. (obviously not actually run over)

Militancy in general seem to be getting worse. Back in the late 90's / early 2000's I used to cycle everywhere on the roads, kept in and allowed cars through and never had a problem. These days you have militant cyclists everywhere who seem to be obsessed with their "rights" and "safety" even though very little has changed in the past 10 years. Makes me embarrassed to be a cyclist frankly.

We have militant breast feeding mothers. Frankly I couldn't give a crap if someone breast feeds in public or not, and in fairness neither did most people. Now we have breast feeding demonstrations. Utterly don't care.

We have militant binmen, militant obesecycle drivers, militant postmen, militant parent and child parking issues...

Can't anyone just exist, do their fking job / hobby and just get on with it without thing having to be a fking statement of some kind?

Sheesh...

Maybe it's not militancy at all, but merely a lack of patience from those impacted?

After all, breast feeding militants only exist because you have breast-feeding prudes.

Have you noticed how binmen NEVER make eye contact with you when their lorry is blocking the road?

Every drive or access road that i see on the estate have the bins left in the middle of the drives/roads.
Same here, the bins are always deliberately left obstructing the drives.

Whilst were on the subject, sludge gulper/road sweepers, i phoned Canterbury council to ask why it was necessary for these bds to drive on one of the busiest roads into Canterbury at 7;30 in the morning, the answer was thats the route that they have to take, he couldn't see sense that this was a bloody stupid time of day to be driving at 5ish mph.
On my way back from town on Monday about 4pm, I was puzzled by the lack of oncoming traffic at that time of day.
Then I saw the cause, a roadsweeper truck diligently about its work at the head of a queue that went on for two and a half miles. Or possibly more, as I turned off up a side road without witnessing the tail end of the snake of frustration.

'None shall pass' was his mantra......

The annoying thing is the mum keeps forgetting to pull the bins out in the morning so the bin men help themselves, then leave them in the middle of the drive.
Idiots.

Going through Banbury on Tuesday morning. The selfish fookers blocked one on the main arterial routes through the town for about 10 minutes at rush hour, causing a right mess and gridlock. I was first in the queue, and there was 3 opportunities to pull in and let the queue disperse, but no, they went down the middle of the road without a care for any other road user. Utter utter s.

Well, I sent a complaint to Banbury council, as IMO, the binmen were out of order causing that sort of traffic jam at rush hour., I reckon there were about 40 (That I could see behind) cars held up for about 10 mins. Not that long I know, but there was really no need.

Here's their reply....

Fatboy b, I have met with the collection crew and he has been advised that a complaint has been made, they were very apologetic and wished for this apology to be passed onto you as they did not intend to cause any upset. They will in the future try to allow all vehicles to pass by on a more regular basis and they have altered their collection schedule.I have told them that this level of service falls short of the standards required by Cherwell District Council and if we have any other complaint similar to this formal action will be taken.

Sounds like the dumb fkers who drive the Veolia wagon here.

Why pull to one side of the road when you can block the only road out of a fairly large estate, at 7:15am when half the residents are heading to work?

I've resisted dishing out any abuse, they make enough mess emptying the damn bins without any encouragement.

I don't get why they have to do it in the morning, specifically between 7 and 9am.

Surely this can be done during the day when the vast majority of the traffic is safely parked up in the work car park?
Are you serious? Do you think the bin lorry turns up to empty bins on just your street, then buggers off home again, job done? As it happens, it was our bin day today. I passed them setting out towards our road at 7am this morning on my way to the station, and again (albeit probably a different lorry) heading towards the landfill site at 4:15pm this afternoon.

Whatever time they start they're going to get in someone's way. If waiting a couple of minutes to pass a bin lorry is really the bit of your week worth complaining about, then you have things amazingly easy. Man up.
I have never, ever seen a bin lorry picking up bins after lunchtime.
Three of my mates are binmen (one even jacked in an accountancy job to do it). They start at 7am and they finish at 11am with the exception of days when they have to clean the wagon, when they finish at 1pm.
