And I have written cover notes for vehicles on their VIN to enable them to be insured to drive to the MOT - this was years ago but I doubt this has changed. Now if you want to co tinge to argue and hijack the thread can I suggest you start your own!

DVLA revoked my licence in error and didn't tell me. I only found out by chance when I looked myself up on their fancy whizzy new website and by that time it had been revoked for about 5 years! I got the form to request a new licence and sent it off with the fee. They didn't cash the cheque and "refunded" me £50 which was a pleasant surprise.

Edit - FYI no ANPR type stops over that time either.
