I think that's where people forget
In fact the "guideline" saying you should chase them up or get a fine has no legal basis whatsoever as has been proven many times in court where people have got sorn fines or other fines overturned where DVLA tried the arguement that the fine should stand because we said you must chase us when the legislation clearly cites no such obligation other than to post it off or in some cases make the online delcarations.

Absolutely but if you are expecting a VED refund I think I'd want to chase it - no?
