Thanks for that but I have already registered as a consequence of all this. I think the problem stems from this being an historical thing because my details were distributed/sold prior to me registering? Short of binning my number and starting fresh I'm not sure there is a magic fix frown
It being a historical claim should not make the slightest bit of difference. The company should make regular comparisons with the lists provided from TPS to ensure that they are up to date.

Therefore they cannot hide behind the fact that they got the number years ago.

This was the wrong response, unless you would like lots more calls

there are 2 ways to get them off your back, 1 deny the accident happened, 2 say you have a personal injury claim that is already being handled

I used to get loads of these. I'm just starting to get a few on my work mobile now. I've not even had an accident or want to claim on PPI

I downloaded a silent ring tone. This only works with the ones that do not phone from a blocked number. Simply put the number in your contacts, assign the silent ring tone with vibe off and let them ring.

If you're on 02, change. I had very few nuisance calls before moving to them to several everyday, along with text messages (very annoying when you work on call). I left them about a year ago and the calls dropped off within a couple of months. I now get hardly any.

Perhaps I'm a bit sadistic but I tend to say I have had a no-fault accident and that I'm very interested in claiming compensation, especially as the other party admitted they were at fault and I was a tad annoyed at having my leg amputated.

After a couple of minutes of increasing excitement (on both sides) I ask if they need my Solicitor's details as he's dealing with the claim for me.

Not very nice, I accept, but these people are blatant time-wasting liars, so in my opinions, sauce for the goose is also sauce for the male goose.

I have a claim going through at the moment, but still get several calls a week from an accident in February.

TPS won't help as these are not unsolicited sales calls - your insurer has passed on your details.

If you tell them to remove you from their system they "shouldn't" call again. But they do. And there are dozens of such companies that will still call.

Latest one I spoke to:

Them: "Hi, this is xxx from First Response"
Me: "You don't really live up to your company name do you?"

Annoying, but until the law is changed that allows insurers to sell our accident details nothing will change.

TPS deals with "sales calls" etc; they don't oversee "information calls" (for want of a better term redface ).

Calls offering compo are (if anyone asks vomit ) offering information & advice and not a product - initially anyway (me, cynic? wink ) - so TPS have no interest. It's a loophole which is being exploited...

No im on EE, and like i said these calls are specifically related to the non-fault accident claim I was involved in 2yrs ago. They have all my details and the accident report so its obvious this level of detail was provided by one or both of the insurance companies involved.

Like i said its more the fact I did the right thing by not claiming for whiplash but I'm being punished by my choice via relentless calls from numerous numbers. I already have 20+ added to a "straight to VM" contact in my phone yet still they come.

I am on O2 and been for years but only get about 1 or 2 unsolicited calls a year as I never give my number out except to friends/family.

My OH had a non fault accident nearly 3 years ago and when he gets the ambulance chasers he says he would like compensation as he died. When they get confused he asks if they are accusing him of lying which just ties them up in knots. To be fair, we haven't had a call for a several months now.

I had a great long conversation with one poor young lady about my single vehicle fatal accident where I was the only one in the car, it took a very very long time for the penny to drop with her!

Had one the other week on my mobile where after I told them I have had no accident he asked me if there was anyone else in the house who may have had an accident!

Another resounding recommendation for TPS here. I was getting about 3-4 calls a day to my mobile from various Scottish, Manchester and, oddly, Jersey call centres touting for injury claims. Over the course, have heard several different gambits along the lines of: "money is set aside in every case", "there is money already waiting for you", "feeling the bump is enough" etc.

The best one though was the one that called up with an intro line of "we believe that you have recently been having a lot of calls regarding an incident you had..."

Initially, I was confused because I'd recently signed up with TPS and was in the waiting period prior to it kicking in, so I thought it might be from them. However, it turned out that the angle of attack this agent was going for was, "We know you're getting a tonne of annoying calls, the only way you're going to stop them is by claiming"!

My response, after getting over the sheer crass impudence of that was, "Actually, there's another way, have you heard of the Telephone Preference Service? I signed up recently." And he hung up immediately.

This, and the fact that my calls have dropped from 3-4 a day to a point where I can't remember the last one I had, imply to me that at least in some cases the TPS will get it to stop. Perhaps it varies based on how these leeches have got your details, but in my case it has been 100% effective.
