First off, I have no issues with the ticket. It's a daft 30 limit on a walled off DC, but the signs are there etc etc, so fair cop on that one.

The day after the dreaded envelope landed, there was a nice news article on the telly, co-incidentally informing me that the AllSeeing, Benevolent Council were raising the limit to a giddy 40mph, a mere 2mph lower than my ticketed speed. Any chance, before I hold my hands up and take the points?

Sounds like the road into Grimsby to me.

If they won't rescind tickets issued when some one put up the wrong speed limit sign you have no chance they won't do you.

Besides if it is "that" road as the police didn't want the speed limit raising, they will need all the revenue they can get before it is raised.

No chance at all. I once got nicked for 41 mph in a 30 limit which was going to be 40 just 26 hours later, at midnight the next night. The new signs were in place covered up, but no tolerance from 'pedantic plod'. And no, I wasn't rude or arrogant. I just apologised for being a bit early with the new speed limit. Still got fined, etc.
