Forgot to update my V5 when I moved house & only just noticed my tax expired a month ago!
I can renew the tax disk at the Post Office and change my address at the same time, tomorrow morning, I'm assuming that some sort of fine etc will have been sent to my old house etc?
What can I expect?

It expired 30th September actually... I read on the highly reliable MSE site that you can renew in the following month without a fine being generated but that looks a bit suspect to me!

I don't think the PO can change your address. The V5 has to be posted back to the DVLA for that.

There is no disc anymore. Just tax it online now from 1/10 and you'll be sorted. Wouldn't expect a fine this quickly

I can't tax it online as haven't receive letter as v5 wrong but DVDs website says I can change address and buy tax at same time. Was just wondering if I'd have to pay a surcharge or fine, or if one may have been sent out to my old address

It doesn't matter what address is on your V5, there is nothing to send you. The paper tax disc doesn't exist any more.

Just use the V5 reference number to tax it online

You need the V5C reference and the registration number. No need for the reminder reference to do it online.

Assaid, you can do it with the V5 DOCUMENT REFERENCE NUMBER ,printed on the lower half of the first page of the V5, in 1-Registered keeper , plus the registration number of the vehicle .
To make it easier ,here's the site

I haven't bothered to tax my car yet either. I don't think DVLA sent me a reminder, but you get so much junk through the post, who knows. As long as you tax it before the end of the month you wont get a fine.

I might even do mine now come to think of it. I also need to sorn a new motorbike I bought a month ago as well. I hate dealing with the DVLA.

All sorted I misread the site, it lists things you can do it with like V5 doc number and reg, or renewal letter code, but I thought it said I needed all three. A bit bumming that the direct debit option doesnt't start till November though

This is why it's a good idea to get your mail forwarded when you move.
