We often bemoan the fact that, when we see bad driving, we might mutter 'if only I was a Traffic Copper / if only there was a Traffic Copper about....'

Well, it actually happened to me, and it was sweet!

About 10 days ago now, I joined the M27 Eastbound at Fareham, at about 23:30. The traffic was fairly light.

After about half a mile, I moved to lane 2 in order to overtake a BMW in lane 1, which was doing about 60mph. As I did so at around 70 or so, upon completing the manoeveure back into lane 1, I was then shortly confronted by an 'MLM' sitting in lane 2.

It's funny, but normally I would just continue in lane 1 and pass the MLM on the inside. However on this occasion, for some reason, I did the totally textbook thing of indicating and moving out to lane 3, passing, and moving back to lane 1.

Then strangely, the MLM started to give me the full-on high beams???? Errm, errr???!!!

Anyway, after this behaviour, I decided to slow down and let the mentalist past me again. He then did so, followed by the aforementioned BMW.

The BMW then overtook the said mentalist....then pulled into lane 2 in front of him....then lit up as an unmarked Police Car, and pulled him into the hard shoulder....

My journey home then consisted of mostly this inside my car: 'Ah-ahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaah!!!!'

So, yeah, it sometimes DOES happen! biggrin

+1

Forcing someone to make a double lane change in order to make a legal overtake really grinds my gears.

The chances of the dozy censored getting a ticket are not very high though.

Lat's hope the wholly unnecessary use of the high beams was the tipping factor for the BiB to reward the offender with a £100 FPN + 3 points.

over the years i've had this on just 2 occasions, both very similar.

i was still a learner when the first happened, i was driving home from football with my mum teaching me, and was doing the limit, a mate who had passed his test sat up my backside then overtook with a car coming the other way (safeish though) the car went past and the next car behind me went past, my mum wasn't happy as we were heading for a bend, until the lights and siren went on. 3 points for my mate. was 31 years ago.

similarly near me now is a 20 limit, does go past 2 schools so i stick to it (have personal reasons for it as well) it also has a mini roundabout and 2 crossings in it, plus bends. young lady with her mates in the car in a red / pink punto sit on my tail with lights full on as i'm doing 20, then overtake as we are heading to the roundabout, so she is on the wrong side of the road at the roundabout. the car behind her goes and i'm thinking what an idiot, till it goes past and the lights and siren go on.

karma is a bh and she bites sometimes smile

Roadworks on Oxford northern bypass about 2 years ago was snarling things up. An impatient guy, who probably doesn't eat pork, in a flashy 5-series did some rather interesting manouvres to get past 5 or 6 cars at various points in the crawling traffic. He started behind me and ended up a few cars in front of me.

After a mile, we reached the source of the problem, a lane closed for a broken down vehicle, BiB in attendence. As we approached the cones, a hi-vis clad BiB walked out and indicated for the BMW to pull over. In my mirrors I see a dark Volvo saloon move out of queue behind me and put on the flashy blue lights in set in his grill. The look on his face as I drove past was awesome :

I had similar feeling feelings to the OP! ha hahahahahahahahah!

I love it when that happens!

I was driving down the road in my response car the other day, blue lights and sirens going, and this stupid bint pulls out from a petrol station, right in front of me, whilst on the phone mad

Though coming in opposite direction was a marked police car, who saw everything and instantly pulled her over. cop

And on another occaison i was in my own car, at the front of a que at the traffic lights. Some AMG number pulls up next to me (in the Left only lane), we get green, his light is still red, but he boosts it and pulls infront. Beemer behind me turns out to be unmarked traffic car, and instantly pulls him over byebye

Indeed, the old ones are the best as they always say. Still, happy to keep it on loop! It really does brighten things up.

The 'best' I saw was sat at ~65 in lane 3 and moved over to lane 4 to let someone past as they flashed him. rolleyes No police there for that one.

An occasion they were was while sat in traffic heading into town, 3 lanes of heavy traffic. The car in the next lane really pushed the amber at one set of lights, then went through the next set on red. I was just thinking 'Where are the police...' as I looked across and saw 4 uniformed officers sat in the car behind them, waiting at the line. smile Last I saw they were being pulled over. smile

Im reminded a a cycle commute where I was minding my own business in a bike lane when an Audi (predictably) decided to use it for jumping a traffic queue

Not taking kindly to it being occupied by a bike doing bike speed he then tailgated me whilst sounding his horn

At this point I stopped, and tapped on the window of the car at rest by my side politely asking the occupants to speak to the Audi which they gladly did
This car was a fully marked up traffic car ha ha ha
