Usually use parcel force several times a week to send car parts and other eBay items without any issue. But then I was told about Parcel Monkey and was told i could save a few quid over PF. So i sent a steering wheel and air bag cover (deactivated and unconnected to the wheel) so could not physically go off to Italy tracked and signed for within 5 days.

The item was only 2kg and was worth around £30 max

That was in the middle of October and today I received an email from Parcel Monkey saying details were inaccurate even though i checked the prohibited items list and nowhere did it say no steering wheels or airbag covers could be sent. And i clearly stated what the item was on the form and at the depot and they accepted it without issue.

So the buyer has given the wrong address. I have checked the PM address against that on the buyers paypal and they match.

Over a month and the buyer has not been in touch.

So how can I handle this as it's not my fault the buyer put the wrong address or info on paypal.

So here is what they sent me.

So they have send me several options. Collect in Southampton which is not an option as I live nowhere near.

Dispose of item, again they will charge me for this.

Or send the item back at a cost of...

Over £60 to send a 2kg item back little over 200 miles seems excessive.

It says details about the recipient - not content were inaccurate (unless I'm missing something)

The address as stated was the same as on the buyers paypal.

Surely if they open a case I can't be liable if they've given the incorrect address.

Just contact them in a ticket, usually pretty helpful.

We use them to send a few bits back to China sometimes, and when it can't clear customs always gets returned to us easily.

But they want £65 to send it back from Southampton to my house.

I'm not quite sure, as usually the parcel is returned to sender. We have always opened a ticket if we saw the item was stuck in Chinese customs, and asked them to have it returned to us - there is never any charge for this.

Pay peanuts, get Monkey?

Well someone had to...

Have you tried contacting them?

See above.

I would have been thinking a potential future Paypal refund scam by the buyer if it wasn't for the notification by PM. Checking a foreign delivery address isn't so simple as one in the UK. It is possible that the courier at the Italian end has made a mistake or the addressee wasn't in and the driver cba to keep going back. Easier to tick the 'incorrect details' box?

I live in Portsmouth - any chance I could collect it on your behalf and post it back to you via a proper courier?

Why have you had a honk about airbags and steering wheels when the message from the Monkey makes no mention of it? confused

Seriously, cut your losses, it's lost.

I lost £70 to these muppets. No phone customer services, email only.

It's not lost its at their depot but the return postage cost is hilarious. As they're an online agent they will pay the courier about £5 hence the cheap rates in the first place.

Use Interparcel and email them a shipping label, bet they won't accept that tho

It's your own fault if you put airbag on there!

An airbag is an explosive (well, technically a pyrotechnic) device. It probably shouldn't have been shipped in the UK!

You say airbag cover but deactivated, was it an airbag or not?

If it was an airbag whether deactivated or not they can still go off, i've seen one that was supposedly deactivated go off in an autosorter at our hub, thankfully wrapped in many layers of pallet wrap but its still nearly burst out of it.

Reminds me of when I sent a guitar effects pedal to Brazil. Never heard anything, no feedback left.

A couple of months later I get a RM red slip, parcel to collect. Down to the PO I go, only to collect the effects pedal! I tried to contact the buyer, no luck, so I tried to refund his payment anyway, couldn't do that as the slow boat had taken it out of the refund period.

I still had the money, and the pedal.

Sold it again, UK only. I still haven't heard from Brazil.

Yes my parcel was "At their depo" too and City Link tried to pick it up 3 times but Parcel Muppets said it wasn't there after telling me I needed to arrange resending.

I have had nothing but problems with Parcelmonkey due to couriers not turning up to collect on time and often late deliveries.

PM blame the courier, and the courier say my contract is through PM.

No one actually wants to take accountability nor issue a partial refund.

Their customer service is terrible.

Anyone know who the CEO or MD is for Parcel Monkey and if they have a sneaky number i could give them a piece of my mind down.

I don't believe my item even left the UK.

Today I get another message saying another item to France was not delivered because the address was incorrect.

I've checked this with the buyer and they gave the correct address.

I believe they are deliberately not sending items abroad then charging £65 to send the items back to the seller.

I've told them i'm getting in touch with Watchdog

Yep same as happened to me. Then I had to pay another £20 because I'd "put incorrect address which they couldn't find", funny, the royal mail seem to find it every day just find) and they had to charge for re-delivery.

City link who they'd subcontracted to deliver tried to pick up the parcel from the parclmonkey depot in Southampton 4 times and it was not there every time they tried.

No reply to any emails, too late to claim via paypal.

Make a claim now before it's too late.

I paid £45 for no delivery and lost the £30 for the item I was having delivered too.

I'll never use them again.

This is how good their customer services are. Read from bottom to top.

You
You just said many of our terms mimic those of the couriers, then the first term you stated was 8.5).

So 8.5 doesn't mimic their terms and that was needlessly added?

To be quite frank i'm pissing in the wind here with regards to complaining.

I will ensure I tell everyone the experience I have had from Parcelmonkey time and time again

James
Hello,

You have not booked through Parcelforce on this occasion, you have booked through Parcel Monkey and therefore our terms and conditions are as per the last thread.

The Parcelforce terms you have quoted would stand if you had booked the service direct with them. .

Kind regards,
James

You
Hello James,

Please refer to your customers own website :

http://www.parcelforce.com/parcel-delivery/express...

It states :

"•Delivery time is guaranteed. If your parcel doesn’t arrive by the stated time, we’ll refund 50% of the delivery cost and we also cover you against loss or damage up to £100. If you wish, you can take out further compensation cover".

Regards.

James
Hello,

I am very sorry to hear about your item being so delayed, now although the mistake was clearly with the couriers I have to inform you that they were still within their service agreements for collection and delivery.

Many of our terms mimic the couriers so for simplicities sake please take note of the following three terms.

8.5.
The Company shall not be liable for late deliveries unless there is valid evidence of a period of 5 working days from the date the goods were scheduled to be delivered on.

8.6.
The Company shall not be liable for late collections unless there is valid evidence of a period of 5 working days from the date the goods were scheduled to be collected on.

8.7.
The Company disclaims all liability for any consequential loss arising from, or in connection with, the Services supplied by The Company and its Agents. For the purpose of this Agreement, 'Consequential loss' shall include, but not be limited to (i) Pure economic loss (ii) Loss of profits (iii) Losses incurred by any third party (iv) Loss of revenue (v) Loss of goodwill and reputation (vi) Loss of opportunity (vii) Loss of work.

I know this is not what you wanted to hear but unfortunately we cannot offer compensation in this case, also if you would prefer a higher success rate that 98% for next day deliveries then we do offer both a Guaranteed Nextday service and priority - timed services; these offer money back guarantees should the courier be late.

I am sorry I could not be of more assistance on this matter.

Kind regards,
James

You
I made no comment that I thought Parcelmonkey was a courier company (look at how many times I have used your company recently via different couriers).

I am also still awaiting monies back for my last terrible experience due to a no show from Citylink. At the time I had to take to Twitter to get something done about it.

Conveniently, this seems to have been forgotten about.

Parcelforce have advised me to contact Parcelmonkey to make a claim against this late delivery.

Please look into this and reimburse me the cost/s for late delivery.

Regards,
Mr Farrell

James
Hello

I am sorry that here has been issues with the courier services but we are not a courier company, we are a reseller and price comparison web site for courier services.

You are correct that when using our website your contract is with us, but you are selecting services via 3rd party couriers, and the Parcel Monkey website site is used to reduce the costs of these services with the couriers.

I have tracked the delivery and it now shows as being taken from the depot in Glasgow out for delivery so should arrive with the consignee shortly.

I hope future services go through without issue as 98-99% of customers orders do.

Kind regards,
James

You
My parcels status shows as being in the North West delivery centre in England and the item was supposed to be delivered today by express 24 hours.

I have contacted Parcelforce and they have advised me I need to contact Parcelmonkey.

Can you look into this for me?
